Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Yesterday I visited this place for the Admá Music Festival. The theater caught fire in 1999 and still has marks of that event, yet the whole environment is fabulous (old-ish, hipster-ish, and colonial style). It is a new bet to invite people to party in Quito's downtown. Definitively a must.
Some advices:
- Visit this place if there is an event
- Take a cab (difficult to find a car spot to park)
- Take your coat
- Enjoy

This is truly a beautiful building, and they have shows here often. There is also a nice restaurant inside. Wish we had been here for a show, but glad we were able to stop by to see the site!

The building itself as one of the oldest theaters on the continent is very impressive to look at but the main attraction is the restaurant which serves pretty good local food. Don´t know about the prices as it was all part of a package deal but we left satisfied and happy.

Teatro Bolivar - this was an old theatre that my guide used to hang out at when he was younger…very cool on the inside and old projectors are still in place. It holds several thousand people when it was in use…very cool place to see!!!!!

This is a magnificent building, undergoing refurbishment at the moment due to recent fire damage. The theatre is still open and the grand foyer now houses a coffee shop and a restaurant. Worth a visit for the architecture

One of my dream trips was a cruise excursion of the Galapagos Islands. On our way back to Canada, we had two days in Quito to explore that spanned over our 9th wedding anniversary date. Teatro Bolivar was highly recommended by our concierge. We were not disappointed. The setting was gorgeous! The waiters attentive and charming! They gave me a bunch of fresh roses on our departure. Food was excellent and indigenous to the region. It was very quiet as we were only one of two couples in the place - which had us wondering "why". Suspect it might have been due to pricing. But overall we felt it was definitely worth the money we paid.

The theatre is currently being renovated after years of neglect but you can see the bones of what must have been a gorgeous building. I inadvertently went upstairs and snapped a photo of the renovations there while a photo shoot was going on. Worth a look if you're an architecture fan.

This is a pretty building and the whole square is quite pretty. We did not see a show, so I can't address that. Lots of little shops in the area. It is a nice little photo opp while walking through the city.

Teatro Bolivar was built in 1933 and is a wonderful example of Neo-classical architecture. It sums up the styles that were sweeping the globe around that time. It has Arabic elements and tries to blend in with other buildings on the street. It has suffered from fires but is undergoing restoration. You can poke your head in for a look at the equally lavish interior. In its heyday it could hold 2400 people and hosted operas, ballets & concerts. Simon Bolivar was a famous Spaniard who fought fiercely for independence in the early 1800's.
