I went here with some birders and absolutely love the place! The rustic/wooden rooms at the lodge totally bely the comfort that awaits you. Simply stunning. The dining area (where you can have lunch on a day trip too) is open plan with a long table and you'll see the White-winged Guans coming in at the one end; although some... More

This private reserve is a community effort that is focused on conservation. It provides a great window into the ecosystem using local guides with intimate knowledge of the reserve and the flora and fauna. We enjoyed a leisurely 2 hour hike with our guide Juan sharing local legends as well as identifying many birds and plants. Not a long hike... More

This place is awesome and well worth the visit if you find yourself in Northern Peru and enjoy seeing wildlife at all. The reserve is set up in collaboration with the local towns so you need to enter with a local guide. This only adds to the experience. Our guide was excellent - knew the area very well and, at... Loved our stay at chaparri reserve. Suggest staying at least 2 nights. Enjoyed the hummingbird pond and breakfasting with peccaries and llamas! The walk to see the spectacle bears was great and seeing them was a great experience. I am glad that the reserve is making the conservation effort and gladly donated to help. The accommodation in the adobe was... More

This is a very special place. The Chaparri Reserve is dedicated to preserve different animals that are in danger. We enjoyed our visit although we have four children two of them under 4. Our tour guide was fantastic he really love his job. Chaparri Reserve is administrated by one community and for them the most important is the reserve over... More

A trip to Chaparri could be a trip back in time as nothing has changed in this beautiful sacred ground for thousands of years. We know very little of the people that carved small deep bowls into a huge boulder. We were told it was their sacred gathering place in front of the mountain Chaparri. It is a mountain in... More

We booked a tour through Sipan Tours in Chichlayo - because it was just 2 of us who wanted to go it was 120 soles each. This paid for the taxi which took us into the Reserve (apparently lots of taxis don't like doing it because the road is very rough) and for the guide. We had to pay the... More

We ended up booking a tour through Chaponan tours direct in Chiclayo. Going through Chaparri lodge was very expensive, they wanted 200 soles just for the transfer between e village and the reserve! it turned out to be much better value to go for just a day. We couldn't fault the company or the guide but the experience itself was... More

Check my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61AEV0pEXXE You can take tours from Chiclayo city to there, yet I love travelling with private tours as it's more fun. You can get small comfortable new buses Chiclayo-Chongoyape that cost 5 soles (you can ask any taxi driver will know which terminal these buses come out from) make sure you go early so you make most...
