This mountain/volcano is 17 kilometers from Arequipa and is visible from most of the city. Nice picture but probably not worth climbing for most.

El Misti is a majestic volcano that sits right behind Arequipa overlooking the city. Its pretty awesome to just sit and gaze at. Even if you don't hike to the top you can still feel its presence.

There are better pictures as in May the tip is covered in a volcano. The volcanos and mountains dominate the city and the views are one of the best memories we gave of Peru.

On a clear day you can see this beautiful volcanic mountain, the symbol of Arequipa to the world. But, if you can get a car to take you outside the city and head out closer to it. Can see stunning on a sunny day.

Wherever you look in Arequipa, you can see Misti, Arequipa is surrounded by 3 extinct volcanoes, misti being the "single" volcano. Just look up in Arequipa.

El Misti is a stunning looking volcano that towers above Arequipa. We splashed out for a scenic flight, definitely the best way to see it. However, we were already totally enamoured with El Misti before we saw it from the air. Plenty of good hikes...More

Go with a tour company. Most are situated at the central plaza in Arequipa.
