I recently traveled to Cusco, Peru to do some volunteer work. Wanting to make the most of my free time, I booked several excursions with American Incan Trail (ATV's to the salt mines and Moray, hiking Rainbow Mountain, and Machu Picchu). Each excursion was very reasonably priced and an absolutely phenomenal experience! Every detail was handled with precision, allowing me... More

There are a few routes you can do. The longer, the more immersive the experience. It is advisable to go with a reputable tour company (you have to have a guide), like Alpaca Expedition s. Be aware of altitude and be prepared for lots of ascents and descents. It is hard work, but so so worth it.

My wife and I did the 4 day 3 Night trek and it was an experience of a life-time. You will see many Inca ruins and hike through a very diverse ecosystem. It's not easy, but so worth it! Our guide was Ruben Quispe Quispe and he did an excellent job. I highly recommend using an indigenous owned and operated... More

We walked up the trail that starts at the bottom of Aguas Calientes. It takes 90 minutes to 2 hours. Make sure to prepare yourself because there is much more walking to do when you reach the top.

This was a truly great experience. We were with an excellent guide and blessed with a wonderful group of co-travelers. A word to the wise do not under estimate the second day.

We hiked the four day Inca Trail in December 2016. While challenging, the hike was definitely achievable. It's not a race and we never felt rushed. Just take it slow and steady and you will be just fine :) The scenery along the way is just incredible: snow capped mountains, misty valleys and Inca ruins. The scenery on the third... More

I guess I don;t need to write much. We took the two day short hiking trip (instead classic 4 day). It's a up and down 14 Km trail, more ups than downs. The mountain scenary and ruins were touchingly beautiful. When we reached Sun Gate and saw the Machupicchu city from afar, you understood that this was indeed a sacred... More

A must do in Peru. Trekked for 4 days along Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The best experience ever! Be careful which company you choose to go with - they are not all the same in terms of treatment of staff & you. We went with Intrepid (Peak) & were blown away by how we were looked after. The trail... More

If you are contemplating whether to do the inca trail....just do it. It isn't easy but you'll totally feel proud of yourself after you finish. Listen to your body, it's not a competition. Slow and steady wins the race. Go for it. If you are thinking this will be a way to lose weight... think again especially if you go... More
