Right at Cusco's "Centro Histórico", you will find "Plaza Regocijo"! The area was part of the ancient great Incan square known as "Huakaypata", which was occupied and divided by the Spanish conquerors into three different squares - "Plaza de Armas", "Plaza de La Merced" and "Plaza Regocijo", itself. The actual square dates from 1555 and is surrounded by several colonial buildings, with the traditional arcades commonly seen in Spain's similar "plazas". The most outstanding building - the "Palacio del Cabildo" - housed Cusco's city hall and now is the local convention center. Many trees and a colorful fountain complete the scene. Around "Plaza Regocijo", some of the best restaurants of Cusco! Enjoy!

Plaza Regocijo, a ‘simple’ yet charming square, is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. It might not boast the grandeur of larger plazas, but it captivates with its understated beauty and tranquil atmosphere. The real allure lies in its surroundings - you’re spoiled for choice with restaurants and bars. Whether you opt for a balcony seat to soak in the vibrant street life from above or prefer the ground level for people-watching, the views are exceptional. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely meal or a refreshing drink after a day of exploration, with the added bonus of glimpsing the city’s hustle and bustle from a serene vantage point.

Absolutely love this Plaza ❤️
Sits between San Pedro and Plaza de Armus but feels a million miles away. Great to sit and relax, watch the world go by and maybe chat to a local.
Plenty of street hawkers but a simple 'No Grazies' usually works.
Fab ice cream parlour just round the corner....., grab a gelato, sit back and watch the world drift by,...
with the sounds of chattering voices and water cascading from the fountain in the centre of the Plaza.
Great times sitting alone or with a fellow traveller.

We stopped there on our way back to our hotel last week and enjoyed a few refreshments. The Plaza isn't the best plaza in Cusco but its still pretty and a nice place to sit back and relax while people watching!

Plaza Regocijo is very close to the Plaza de Armas. It's very alive, with people walking around and a small market.
Very nice to walk by and relax for a bit.

Plaza Regocijo is a very scenic and relaxing smaller plaza just south of Plaza de Armas. We found ourselves returning here several times during our Cusco stay. There is a municipal building with a lovely arcade to the north (peak inside the door to find the unmarked Museo de Arte Contemperano) and a nice restaurant with open air seating to the south. The plaza star is the lovely fountain that glimmers in reflected sunshine. A nice quiet island to relax and people watch.

This block large square is segmented and has a lovely fountain in the middle. It appears, at least today, to be primarily occupied by locals. I didn't see any amount of hawkers as noted in another review, but he was correct, a simple "no, gracias" suffices.

We stopped off in this square several times as our walking tour and trek both had this as a meeting point. Pleasant square surrounded by some interesting building and with a fairly large fountain in the middle
