We booked the 7 day MTB vacation with Haku kind of last minute (about a month ahead of arrival!), and they managed everything super well. We are a couple traveling with friends and their teen kids, and we felt like the range of levels within our group were well-accommodated and planned for. Nicole communicated clearly with us prior to arrival, and Bill and Ale were helpful and attentive while we were there. We had parts break on one bike that they helped us deal with (which required a drive back to Cusco), they gave us intel on where to ride on our day off (and Ale even came with us!), and they were prepared for the minor first aid situations we encountered. We felt safe and challenged, and the trails we rode were technical and difficult and awesome. This trip will help you be a better rider. Haku is a great place to put your trust and money.

I can't begin to say enough good things about Haku. We booked the Peru Mountain Bike Vacation 7 Days trip with only 2 weeks notice after my original trip was cancelled. I had much trepedation about the altitude, but Nicole eased my concerns and I'm so glad I decided to take the chance.
With only 2 weeks notice, Nicole booked a completely custom, private guided schedule for my non-biking wife. I think she was busier than me. The hotels were all fantastic. Haku clearly knows the Sacred Valley intimately and planned every detail. The guides are absolutely awesome - incredibly supportive of everyone in our group. The rental bike was in great condition and performed flawlessly. Snacks every days were great - eat! You really do burn 2X the calories at altitude as I learned after getting on the scale at home.
The riding was epic. I was nervous about high altitude and exposure, but once you're on the trails, they are too incredible to worry about. La Maxima, starting at 14,800 and descending 5,000 feet was beyond epic. Even the short hike-a-bike to 14,800 was cool. Seeing sites like the Maras Salt Mines and Moray Circles while riding was just the perfect for someone that prefers action over sightseeing.
I guess the measure of any trip is would you go back? I'd go back in a heartbeat and hope I can return for more riding, camaraderie and amazing Peru people, culture, history, food and more.

Having never previously known about Haku, I took a chance and booked the 7 day MTB vacation with them in Peru. All I can say is, BOOK A TRIP WITH HAKU! Nicole and Bill are two amazing people who know how to get you on the best trails in the Sacred Valley and beyond. While being highly-professional and safety-oriented, they take you on real adventures. If you want exposure and thrills, you'll get it.Thanks for the incredible experience!!! Already planning my return.

We booked the 11-day Peru MTB adventure for our honeymoon. It was very easy communication beforehand with a detailed list on must-have items. Nicole was responsive to all questions we had. Having never booked a guided tour before, our experience was seamless and I am so happy we went this "easy" route for our honeymoon. All details were handled from lodging, to meals/snacks, to transportation, and even for borrowing last minute gear. I could go on and on about how fantastic and detail-oriented Nicole was in planning/guiding our trip. We also had guide, Wilhen, for most of our trip and he was also great. Our driver, Franklin, kept all our gear secure & was efficient & timely in getting us around. Nicole & Wilhen explained so much about Peru as we shuttled to different trails. They were both proud of the Peruvian culture and offered so much more than just MTB. I simply cannot fathom another MTB tour topping this experience. I admire Nicole (& Bill) and their business. The riding was spectacular and catered to our group. We were even able to have Machu Picchu added on during our "rest day" and it was all arranged for us. This is THE company to book with for a MTB trip of a lifetime!

I had a great time riding Lares with Haku Expeditions. On the trail, my guide was very attentive and set a pace that was best for my style and ability, . . . or lack there of. Bill, the tour operator, and my guide were very friendly and accommodating. The transportation was good. The safety equipment was good . . . and necessary as I did crash once, but did not have a break, bruise or scratch on me. Haku took us to lunch at a nice restaurant where we had a locally traditional culinary experience. It was very good.
The bike was very high quality and generally easy to ride. I'm NOT going to say that the front break was defective or set up wrong, . . . but it was VERY different than the front break on my own bike. The front break had a very sudden and quick bite. My guide adjusted it for me, but that just moved the sudden bite to a different point. This front break that I was not use to, along with my inexperience riding in the mountain and on loose rocks, . . . was a major contributor to the crash I had. After the crash. I mostly just used the back break.
I chose Haku over other companies based on the following email I received from Bill :
Hi Wesley
We can check all those boxes for you. We’ll get you out on Lares with a guide and make it a private trip, and we’ll Go Pro it and hit up a local trail into Cusco. It would fall into the full day category and to have it completely private it’s a 50 supplemental. So 310 usd. So if that sounds all good you can book directly on the site. Once booked you’ll receive some follow up emails and we will be ready for you.
If you have any questions please let me know.
My name is Bill.
Cheers
Unfortunately, my ride was NOT GoPro'd. I asked about it at Haku the morning of the ride. They said "We're supposed to GoPro your ride ? No one told me. I didn't bring the GoPro.". First, . . . I chose Haku primarily because they included GoPro'ing my ride for me. Second, . . . one of the reasons I paid extra to have a private guide was so my guide could GoPro me all the way. After I was told I would not be GoPro'd, my guide said he would get some pictures and short videos with his phone, . . . but . . . he didn't. There was no GoPro, no pictures, no partials refund offered, and no apology.
Would I use Haku again ?!? I probably would, . . . but, the day before the ride, I would go over all the details again that had been previously discussed.

From the planning stages to after our time with them Haku’s team went above and beyond to help us and answer our questions. We traveled as a couple, my partner with more biking experience than I, and both of us were blown away with the biking we got to do. Haku catered to both of our ability levels. Mike got to ride the more challenging terrain that he wanted and me the mellower. We did the day biking trip (100% recommend adding this on) and the Ausengate biking trip (so special and unique). Altogether 4 days that truly made our Peru vacation one of a kind. We felt safe, cared for, and the company worked hard to meet all of our needs. Signing up for a tour with them is a must. And did I mention the scenery is insanely beautiful?! Thank you Nicole, Xavier, Bill, and Franklin we will never forget our trip with you and will be telling all of our friends back home to do this!

First of all, I would like to thank Nicole from Haku Expeditions for an amazing week in Peru. You have provided me with excellent service, knowledge and experience. My stay in Peru would not be the same without you!
One week in the sacred valley went by fast. I had a blast cruising down inca stairs, gnarly switchbacks, loose sections, exposed off chambers and playful singles tracks. The weather was lit, and so was the food! And the people.
I truly believe that Haku is the best provider of bike tours in the area (world?). Don’t hesitate to contact Nicole, you will not regret!
Already looking forward to next time we meet!

We just got back from a fabulous trip with Bill and Nicole. My husband loves to research and plan trips so he's very opinionated on what he would like to do and where he would like to stay. Bill and Nicole were patient with him and worked with him to plan the most amazing trip! It would not have been the same great trip without their expertise and organization. We did a combination of hiking, exploring Cusco and mountain biking. We started the trip with a relatively easy mountain bike tour to the town of Ollantaytambo. This was a great way to start our vacation. We then did the hike from KM 104 to Machu Picchu. This was perfectly planned and the guide Bill and Nicole provided was amazing. We then spent a few days in Cusco exploring. The trip highlight was our bike trip to Ausangate with Bill and Nicole. It was such a unique experience in the most stunning scenery. We relaxed in the hot springs and had a home cooked Peruvian dinner at Bill's and Nicole's friends home where we stayed. The ride was challenging but it was perfectly planned with the help of porters and snacks to sustain us through the day. In addition to the great company (Haku) they created they are just really good people and fun to spend time with! We hope to plan another trip with them in the future!

Bill and Nicole put on an excellent day of riding for us around Lares, Maras and Urubamba involving a really fun mix of flow trails and a challenging technical knuckle ride that put a huge smile on my face to finish the day! The riding itself was varied with some Inca steps, tight switch backs, a fun gully with a few wall rides, and all round amazing scenery taking in views of a few Inca ruins on route. They were also excellent relaxed guides happy to go at our pace and were flexible when our plans kept changing at short notice. My only regret is that I wished I had more time for riding on this trip, thank you both for a wonderful experience 😁

Great day trip with Jose Manuel! One of our trip highlights so far!
He was very knowledgeable about the area and tailored the trip to our comfort level while teaching us about local history along the way and stopping for points of interest. Great English too.
We reached out to Haku at noon the day before as we were leaving Lima airport to Cusco, they were able to put together a fantastic day trip on very short notice.
We had to taxi to their office in the morning but they dropped us at our hotel at end of the day. Bikes were full suspension Kona bikes, and full face helmets, knee pads, gloves were available for us at no additional cost.
Our guide took us on Lares Trail followed by a windy trail past the Maras Salt Mines, great fun intermediate trails. We had the option of stopping for lunch or squeezing one more ride in so we elected to eat our snacks and just keep riding!
They had us back by 5:15PM as requested as we had an Inca Trail meeting that night.
We did this trip on our first day in Cusco after arriving from sea level. We were taking Diamox. We felt the altitude on the very minimal climbs but otherwise was a great way to spend a day acclimatizing before our trek! Would highly recommend!

Haku Expeditions is a phenomenal company. Very professional, excellent services, excellent locations for rides, excellent guides, excellent support to build your bikes if traveling with them in a box. I will ue them again. Nicole is amazing!
