Monkeys, sloths, and birds up close!

Go if you can! You get to pet monkeys, have monkeys climb all over you and you can take up close pictures. And if you like, you, you can have an anaconda around your neck. All... read more

In the midst of a dilapidated city is this surprisingly nice park its grass, benches, some plantings. Try to ignore the trash that seems ubiquitous in Peru.

We spent the money and paid for the Full day trip. we were able to be picked up at the hotel and had a fast motor boat take us and the guide to and from the island, stopping to visit another wildlife rescue center on the way. On the island, we spent the day playing with the baby monkeys the... More

I had a wonderful time at Monkey Island. It is an actual island located in the middle of the Amazon River. The monkeys here have all been abandoned by their mothers or found living among humans in villages. They are brought here and rehabilitated and then they self release themselves out onto the island to create their own colonies or... More

Went there with my fiancée in December. Brandy, a local who works there caring for the monkeys, showed us around and told us all about the monkeys, sloths and the island itself. In total they have 7 species of monkeys on the island and a couple of sloths, and a new baby sloth due any day now. The animals are... More

I enjoy the experience very much. As soon as I've arrived a little monkey jumped over me and sit on my shoulder. He spent my entire visit with me. I recomend this visit to people who likes nature and animals.

I can not say enough about this place more than , Do not pass it up. So much fun and interaction with the animals and great picture opportunities. Great for a slower paced day and for one on one animal time. You have got to include this in your itinerary.

We volunteered for 5 days at monkey island and can only say wonderful things about this experience. The monkeys are well taken care of by all the staff. They are able to live freely in their natural habitat. You are able to interact with some of the monkeys and learn a lot. Best thing to do in the area for... More

It is an island located in the Amazon River ... Truly wonderful. To access you have to go on a tour as I was because it is the most feasible. It was part of a full day tour that contract if I remember most, cost about 70-80 soles ($25) included lunch and mobility from your hotel. They take you on... More

The "Original" Isla de los Monos is indeed an island within the Amazon river, some good 1.5 hour speedboat trip from Iquitos. This one has less animals today than it used to have, many cages are empty and while there are still monkeys roaming around I'm not sure if it worth the effort of reaching there. Maybe mostly for monkey... More
