Paracas and Huacachina from Lima with Ballestas Islands and Sand Boarding

730 reviews
The coastal and desert regions outside Lima offer a world of outdoor adventure far from the city, but complex bus systems—and, for some visitors, a language barrier—make exploring a challenge. On this full-day tour, travel in comfort from your Lima hotel and hit Paracas and Huacachina with ease. Spot native marine life in the Paracas National Reserve and try sandboarding on South America’s largest dunes.

We recently spent an afternoon at the Hacienda, getting to learn about the Peruvian Paso horse. The grounds are beautiful, and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The best of course was the horses. They have a wonderful friendly temperament and are so beautiful. We watched a show highlighting the steps taken to train the horses and then were give the opportunity to ride. It was an amazing experience. The nicest riding horse I have ever been on. Then, we were given a delicious lunch before being driven back to our hotel. It was a day to be remembered and one of the highlights of our visit to Peru. If you love horses you will love Los Ficus Casa Hacienda.

This hacienda breeds Peruvian Paso horses. The hacienda collected and returned us to Miraflores, Lima. When we arrived we were given a tour of the hacienda during which the breeding and training regime was explained. After the tour the hacienda laid on an exhibition of the horses. This included a description of the horses saddle and bridleware before the Challans demonstrated their horsemanship skills. In addition, the hacienda provided snacks and cocktails. I would thoroughly recommend a trip to this wonderful hacienda where the hospitality is second to none.

We had an unforgettable experience at Los Ficus Hacienda. We were met by a guide who spoke English, and she knew the horses very well. She gave us a tour of the stables and told us about each individual horse. You could tell that she loved the horses. After the tour we were treated to a demonstration of the training and riding of these unique Peruvian horses. Being able to ride the horses after the demonstration was another great part of the show. Our time ended with a delicious lunch including a salad made from greens and vegetables from the garden on the premises. This was an absolutely amazing experience.

I am Peruvian myself living abroad, so I knee about these beautiful animals. We visited this place together with family members living around the world and all of us could not enjoy it more. Very interesting and personalized introduction to the Peruvian Paso Horse and its history, topped with a very nice show and the opportunity to ride these great horses. Nice location, although the way to it don’t show precisely the best part of Lima. Heavy traffic and kind of ugly surroundings (did not seem dangerous though). Lunch can be improved and the transportation van sent to pick us up could be definitely better.

This is a fantastic experience for family, friends, or couples. Firstly, the location is large and beautiful. Instagram worthy, lol. These horses are beautiful. Well trained and without spoiling anything for you, you get to learn a lot about the special history of Peruvian horses. There is a show that ties everything in together that makes this a powerful cultural experience. I recommend also getting the food/drink dishes as a part of your experience too. This is very chill experience where you can relax a bit and just enjoy the show.
