We went to the palace to watch the changing for the guards not really knowing what to expect. It turned out better than we imagined. Worth the 20 minutes, also because of the location there are many other great attractions close by making for a great morning for exploring

we went in March 2017 and took supplies for flood victims--collection site at presidential palace. the police out front were great--liked that tourists arrived with 80 lbs of supplies. Lots of skinny stray dogs that we fed--police supportive and even gave us some bottled water for the dogs.

The Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor) is situated in the heart of the city of Lima. On the day of the foundation of the city (January 18, 1535), the conquistador, Francisco Pizarro chose its location and decreed that a church, a city council building and a gallows be construct on the site. The remainder of the parcels were divided between... More

Most pictures that I have seen from Lima Peru are from this plaza. Its the center of the old city with a nice fountain in the middle. There are beautiful buildings surrounding the plaza. Several are museums, a cathedral/museum, and the presidential palace. A great place for photos, enjoying the beautiful old buildings and people watching. If you go a... More

We made a stop at this lovely plaza. In the center of the plaza is a beautiful old fountain that is still in working condition. Surrounding the plaza are the cathedral and the president's palace, along with other old buildings both public and private. The plaza is clean and nicely maintained. There is a strong security force in place both... More

This is the main square of historic cusco. In fact, the cusquenas don't even call it by it's Spanish conquistador given name, and on many maps you will see it listed as Huacaypata or "warrior's" square. It is worth a stroll if only to eat at some of the nicer restaurants on its borders. But don't miss the churches of... More

This is one of the richest Plazas of Latin America. Surrounded by government buildings and the Cathedral is a great place to have a glimpse of colonial life in the Virreynato of Peru. The historic district starts in the plaza de armas, and is a great place to walk, take pictures and get to know the local life. Is better... More

This was a historical stop on our walking tour and we enjoyed watching all the people and the beautiful buildings on the plaza. Every direction has a history dating back centuries. The original fountain in the plaza is priceless. We were fortunate to be at the plaza on the eve of the Santa Rosa of Lima celebration and watched an... More
