Rose of Lima is probably as well known as any saint from South America. Her life story is bizarre. She may well have been ingrained with the spirit of heaven, or she might have been plain "nuts". Regardless of what she was or was not, this attraction is worth an hour or two.

The decorations in the Chapel of Saint Rose were beautiful. The history of the Chapel and Saint was interesting.

My home parish ion Long Island, New York was St. Rose of Lima (pronounced like the bean) so it was a natural visit. Very tranquil and a bit off the tourist path so it's a good visit. Lots about the saint's life.

If you're Catholic you should visit this church and the crypt where St. Rose is buried. The convent is beautiful and well kept. You don't have to be on a conducted tour to visit. We were with Condor Travel and it was part of the city tour. My only criticism is that the tour required payment in U.S. dollars instead... More

Very quite and respectful church. The rose gardens were in bloom. I can see that the church was done in the way Saint Rose led her life very humbly.

We attend St Rose of Lima church in our home town. To be honest, prior to visiting here we knew nothing of St. Rose, (our bad). Her home, the church and the story of her life was fascinating. We can wait to get home and tell our fellow parishioners about what we saw and learned.

For those who are interested in the history of Saint Rose of Lima, this is THE place to go. Access is open to the public free of charge and it is available through public or private transportation (not easy access to parking though). Preferable to travel using public transportation or arranging for someone to pick you up/drop you off as... More

My sister-in-law is an alumnus of St. Rose of Lima school so naturally, I had to visit the church on her behalf. It's a beautiful and peaceful structure, a bit off to the side of Centro Historico. St. Rose's crypt is NOT in the church. It's in the Monastery of Santo Domingo, a few blocks away. Don't miss it.
