We went there walking from Miraflores, using beautiful avenues. We visited art galleries with good coffee and nice things to buy. What is best is the beach access. The beaches are not specially beautiful but they are unique and so worth visiting. Many surfers all around. The place also is full of nice restaurants and lots of tourists. I liked... More

I really like Barranco, this old district is a good place to be with wife and family, walking in the street and you can go to the beaches downside.

Walking distance along the Malecon from Miraflores is the neighborhood of Barranco - older, more laid back, and filled with interesting shops and restaurants, as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), the Mate Museum and a pleasant town square from which to sit and watch the world go by.

Most tourists stay in the Miraflores district, but if you don't go see the historical side of Lima in downtown Barranco, you'll be sadly missing a beautiful area. You can walk along the cliffside from Miraflores to Barranco & back, although it is about a 40 minute walk, but worth it for the ocean views. Barranco has a beautiful square,... More

This is a really funky neighborhood in Lima. Lots of interesting art, buildings, and Parks. Take a walk over the bridge and around the center of town Check out the buzzards on the top of the church. Fun for a 1-hour stop to get a feel for the area.

After you have explored the centre of Lima it is worthwhile taking the bus to Barranco and taking in the atmosphere of this vibrant neighbourhood. We stayed in the area and although at first I thought it was too far out of the city centre for our stay, it was actually refreshing to get out of the hordes and walk... More

The views from Barranco, clinging the seaside cliffs, is amazing. You get a full vista of the water and everyone enjoying the ocean -- especially during the heat of summer. Barranco is romantic, bohemian, and full of artists, musicians, designers and photographers. I especially enjoyed seeing the Electricity Museum and old trolley tracks of yesteryear. There is a walkway to... More
