I'm not sure we actually found the quarry (and the fact that I think that makes me think we didn't), but we were still rewarded with outstanding views of the Sacred Valley, the Urubamba River, the mountainside, and plenty of domestic animals (cows, horses, donkeys,...More

We went with a trek company that started the hike at trail head in Socma, and then came down through the Inca Quarries the next day. Highest point of the trek was around 4500 meters above sea level, where we camped for the night. The...More

The entrance to the Inca Quarries was right across from our hotel. I have to admit it was a steep and challenging hike from our perspective as we are older. Never the less, the quarries are an amazing sight.

So this is where a four-day hike ended - we camped nearby. You can clamber all over the stones here and there's a cave stocked with human bones. You get a great view of Ollaytantambo and can see how far the giant stones were moved....More

The hike to the Inca Quarries is on a very well-maintained trail (which is pretty rare in Peru). The trail offers stunning views of Ollantaytambo, the Urubamba River & the snowcapped Veronica Mountain. As beautiful as this trail is I have seen very few people...More

The inca quarries and the shaped and worked pieces of granite along the way were interesting. More interesting was the view of Mt. Veronica, condors overhead, and the solitude. We walked from our hotel by the train station, through town, across the inca bridge (looks...More
