One of the river beaches in Montevideo

The pleasant promenade was the highlight for us. We saw some people going in the water, but not sure if it is appropriate for swimming.

It is a nice beach, no doubt but not more. It is nice as long as you look into the sea and not directly behind you: even if it is not ugly, there are high buildings kind of ruining the beach scenery. Good thing is, it was not crowded (saturday afternoon) as expected and because the montevideo sign is here... More

The Rambla is a boardwalk thats in front of the river for miles. You find places to eat and drink all over, people are walking ,exercising an riding bikes

Pocitos is a quiet neighbourhood, family like place. It's got parks, restaurants and shopping Centre, so everything you might need is around.

a long sand beach to walk and run into Montevideo downtown. Really amazing sunset views from Rio de la Plata waters.

Horrible place to live, the noise of the klaxons make your day very upset. Is nice for the restaurants and different shops. Near the 'Rambla' is very good, but, be careful with the cars.

Very nice upper middle class neighborhood with diversified street commerce and a safe feeling. Has a nice square, Parque Juan Zorrilla de San Martin where locals exercise after work and holds a Saturday morning fair, selling from clothes to cheese to mate. Nice walks at the Rambla, with strategic bars and parks along the way.

From airport is 20 minutes by UBER. Good at night and afternoon The bars at beach are not good as other places, very simples and are closed almost all the year except few Many of the best restarurants are at Pocitos or Pta Carretas/. Many people run . walk or bike.

Includes the beautiful beach walk, and the area of town which is by far the nicest area of montevideo. doesn't have anything too exciting going on but a nice place to spend a few hours.

You can go to the beach -- a sort of cove, with white sands, with rocky promontories at both ends, or you can walk or cycle along the "Rambla", which goes along the river all the way from the harbor at the "Old City" ("Ciudad Vieja") to Carrasco, at the east end of the Montevideo department.
