A simple yet unique experience with strong character and peace in the middle of busy Suva.
Jan 2019 • Couples
A lovely little course, peacefully nestled in the heart of the bustling boisterous city of Suva.

Do not expect fancy 5 star service nor facilities, but if you just want a great round of golf, hit these fairways. I dare you to make less than a 2 putt on any hole in your first round.

Overall, a great course with its unique set of challenges, from narrowed fairways playing off the championship tees, to blind shots over swamps and trees, to two tiered greens. It gets soggy when wet but fast becomes playable again.

Tees are nicely positioned, and when placed in line with the championship tees narrow the normally broad fairways significantly. Fairways are in good shape and play softer than expected, so you can really compress the ball. Greens are in great shape and roll very true for such a small course.

Overall, with no pomp nor pageantry, the course gives you a unique challenging yet peaceful experience in Suva.

With ground staff always out and about, it feels safer and more secure than it felt a decade ago when I first played it.

Dinner at the club
May 2018 • Couples
Cheap lovely meals with live music on Thursday with a great band singing songs from the 60's through to current songs. Fantastic.
Roast spit night on Saturday was really good roast pork.

Suva Golf
Nov 2017 • Couples
I have played this five times now as a new resident in Suva so cannot claim to have seen the course through all the seasons. But from this taster, I rate this as the best Asian Inner city golf course I have played when I compare it to playing Chennai, Delhi, Dacca, Islamabad, Colombo and Jakarta. Only Kuala Lumpur is better.
Like all such courses, Suva is old, flat tree lined and modelled on English Park courses. But this one is longer, cleaner and way more interesting and pretty than the others. It has some quite complicated holes in fact. Also it now has a green mower so the state is generally acceptable.
But if it rains heavily, it will quickly become very difficult to play. So with Suva that makes any visit a bit of a gamble Nov to April. It is also not a rich course so, while the clubhouse welcome is as warm as you can hope for, the infrastructure is basic and you should not expect buggies, lawn-grade grass on the greens, etc.
Put together, Suva GC is way better than the reviews I’ve seen on web, Google and Trip Advisor would lead you to believe. I give it five stars for a golf course in the middle of town, delivering exactly what it modestly says on the tin, and I would recommend it to any golfer visiting Suva if the weather is fine.

BTW If you have a chance to get down the coast, 2 hours from Suva, Natadola golf is an Asian Tour gem that I would recommend. Nothing modest or basic about Natadola. It’s a challenging course with stunning views and impeccable infrastructure.

Suva Golfing

I was a member of the Fiji Golf club for a couple of years (2015-2016). As long as the grounds are not too wet – you will have a blast here.

Clubs, trollies, carts can be rented at reasonable costs, and the caddies are full of knowledge about the course and can help you out heaps. Ask the staff to arrange a caddy for you rather than grabbing one off the street.

Take your umbrella – as it often rains – but its not cold! The bar staff are friendly and you can get cheap and good food from Peekay’s restaurant.

Ring ahead to make sure the course is open and that there is not a tournament on that you might not be able to enter. Most of the time you can turn up and just play.
