Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lots of ‘same same but different’ and tons of gimmicky tourist knick knacks. However, if you spend a little time and work your way towards the stalls near the back you can pick up some genuine clothing bargains and a few surprises too such as Indian chatty’s. Just don’t part with your money on junk that will
gather dust on a shelf in your home or get thrown out before you leave Suva to head home.

Get a custom made jamba or dress at one of the many tailors in here. Don't ask them to make curtains though. Too hard. There is lots of options to buy a sulu or two. From $5FJD. Ranges of woven mats and bags as well as cheap imported sunglasses.

Had to run in town to have a trousers seam hemmed early on a Saturday morning. Went in early to the Suva Flea Market and found a seamstress who kindly accepted to do the necessary repairs. I then dropped off my work shoes to a shoe-repair service at the Suva market kiosks. Returned 4 hours later to pick up both. My shoe was repaired expertly for a cost of $5 and my trousers repair also expertly sewn for $3. Great bargain.
The Suva Flea market now has a new foodcourt which has been extended and could perhaps sit 160 people. I had lunch at the foodcourt - a bowl of rourou (taro leaves..very nutritous) with mutton and boiled cassava for $7.
I even bought 2 second-hand books from a book vendor at the Flea market. Then I wandered into the adjoining Value City store whose 'New Stock' banner was displayed on the shop front bulkhead. A lot to look through...but found reasonably new t-shirt for my son. Then crossed over to the Suva Municipal Market to buy vegies.
A very interesting flea market to visit, if you have some time and would like to try a local Fijian dish (there are other dishes too). Note, no air-conditioned facilities, all open air, be prepared for the heat if its a hot day.

A huge range of items both handmade and produced here, with many of the stall owners on hand to make custom items for you. Unlike other places that we visited in Suva they were not in the least bit pushy and that made for a more pleasant experience. They even gave us help on where we could get a certain item that we couldn't find there.
Yes some of the items were "cheap" but mostly it was a case of they were well made items for good value. We couldn't help ourselves and brought up as there is so many things that you admire there.

This was the only place from where I managed to get my graduation salusalu which is a Fijian garland and I chose the colours and the lady custom made it for me at an affordable price. Great place to buy mats from.

The Suva Flea Market has a wide range of handicrafts and locally made goods at cheaper prices than the Handicraft Market on the waterfront. You still have to sort the value from the meh but there are lots of bargains to be had. Check out the freshwater pearl necklaces for $40 FJD or a Bula shirt for a similar price.

We visited Souva from a cruise ship on a rainy day. The flea market seemed like a good place to go until we could get a break from the weather. We roamed around the place and saw some curious, unidentifiable merchandise, but didn't find anything we couldn't live without.

We had a great day walking around the streets of Suva and had an interesting experience in the flea and food markets. The people were very friendly and happy to explain all there goods. They were not pushy at all and seemed just happy to talk to us about Suva and asked about Australia. We felt safe and were very impressed how organised they are. The markets were quite clean. Well worth a visit. We took the Pacific Destinations bus from the Outrigger this took about 2 hours and we could observe the village life and rich country land.

We were on a Princess Cruise, just recently. Disembarking to walk around Suva, we saw markets on the wharf, and across the road. The hand crafts amazing, the clothes just great, and fruit and vegetables a plenty.

Is the market open on Sundays? Our cruise ship is only in town for the day.

Is the Flea Market open on Sundays. What other attractions are open on Sundays.

People there are very religious. They shut down most everything on Sunday. However, There are some wonderful parks there which are always open. The one that runs along the waterfront is especially nice.
