Mandatory point for the ones interested in knowing a bit more on DPRK history (their own version of facts, of course), but still interesting. There are also books with anecdotes from the leaders, and some souvenirs.

Contrary to popular belief, most of the books here can be purchased from many of the other bookshops in Pyongyang (ie the one in the Yanggakdo Hotel and the numerous small bookshops within the big Pyongyang restaurants).

The Foreign Language Book Shop is easy to miss due to it's unassuming entrance. Inside the shop there are items that are not available anywhere else in the world including posters, translated literature from DPRK, newspapers and a lot of unique items. Due to a...More

It's interesting to see the Foreign Language Bookstore because there's a lot of propaganda: books filled with stories supposedly written by their great leaders, patriotic stamps, and even amusing DVDs showcasing the women who direct traffic in Pyongyang.

Not a great choice in books most overpriced and try as I might I could not find a lonely Planet guidebook anywhere !
