Mostly fun because of where you are

Bowling itself was mostly a laugh - the lanes didn't record pins properly, so the scores were highly random. But you're bowling in Pyongyang!

This was a nice place to visit and meet the locals. Balls were a bit old but had no problems with balls getting stuck etc. The nice ladies bring beer that can be paid for and you can also play modern arcade games if that's your thing.

The bowling alley is great! Not only is there a variety of food and drink, but there are a number of alternate arcade games such as racing, pool and basketball for those who may not enjoy bowling. Great place for mingling with the locals!

Quite an elaborate bowling alley. Lots of people, especially young people, there. Next time, we'll try a game. Our hotel also had a mini-bowling alley.

Funky little bowling alley with good beer and old shoes. An opportunity also to connect with the locals on adjoining lanes.

40 (forty!) lanes to bowl. You can definitely appreciate the on spot guidance that was given by President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il. The graphics of the monitors might be a bit debatable.... Too 80s! Sometimes they also miscount the pins! But in the end it's good fun!

The Bowling Alley in Pyongyang is a well kept (by hand,) 12 lane Bowling Alley. It's very familiar to any Western Bowling Alley and one of the few enjoyable, less exotic parts of the tour.

This is a must! I had only bowled once or twice before, but that was not the point. It is an opportunity to mingle, to a point, with local Koreans, watch some spectacular bowling, and hurl a few balls down the lane one's self. We had a fine time, chatted with some folks and really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was... More
