Do not be deceived by the run-down building: inside you will find a calm and spacious gallery with plenty of interesting pictures, predominantly from the Albanian Socialist-Realist period. It is funny and puzzling to see how art was used to manipulate people, but the paintings...More

Focused on communist art used as propaganda. Probably best seen with a guide to explain what is on show.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this is mainly an exhibition of social realist art, aka communist propaganda. Construction work, heroic manly figures, broad-chested, square-jawed as another reviewer put it; also women in a new role as workers, tools on shoulders, many still with headscarves...More

Entry costs ALL 200. The permanent collection is on the upper floor and consists of Socialist Realist art from the communist period in Albania - this provides a completely different perspective on that period from the exhibits in the National Museum and BunkArt. On the...More

It's worth it only if you have extra time. most of the paintings are from the 1935s and later and show the guerrilla struggles and the construction of socialism.

Art galleries are the first destination of my trips, dare I say it, as a practising painter. Modern building, slightly tatty at the edges, only the permanent exhibition open. All the works show heroic men and women pouring molten iron in factories, ripping the tops...More

Very nice building with two exhibitions at that time. We paid like 2 Euro each. I liked the different exhibitions.

Small collection, focused on the communist era. Many Socialist Realist pictures, heroic partisans, workers at the steel plant, peasants greeting the Communist "liberators." Useful in understanding the half century of Communist rule.
