Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The mosaic in front tells the whole: some communist-style iconography, making a hero out of the average citizen, worker and partisan ready to fight, in all the futility any hopeless action can bring. The building does not display a contradictory message, with its large halls.
The organisation of the artefacts, the labelling and most other aspects need quite a thorough review and reform.
The museum officially opens at 10 a.m. However, yours truly, coming up at 10:02 a.m., created quite a stir: it looked like a happening (a marketing event in which a seemingly impromptu drama unfolds, aimed at getting through a marketing message), or for that matter a non-happening. The security person was late, hence could not open the door. The keepers were not yet ready to work. The toilet cleaner had forgotten to do the job the last night. The entrance door could not properly open. The ticket machine was not starting up. The ticket printer needed some ink. Etc. We finally got through at 10:23 a.m., when our sense of humour was ready for the announced failure. In the process as well as in many aspects in this country, the iron curtain has failed to fall down, and it showed.
The displays are rich in national pride, but the rest is made on the cheap. Probably little has changed since the 1990s, bar the adding of a hall depicting some of the human right abuses in the Hoxja (communist) period.

I don’t think it’s worth the time of visiting this museum - both Bunk’Art and House of leaves are better. The information and artefacts presented aren’t very interesting and the museum doesn’t flow very well. For a better sense of Albanian history I’d recommend going on a walking tour instead.
Tickets were 500 LEK. There were toilets and ramps on the ground floor but there were only stairs to get to the higher floors.

Even though it looks closed, it is open, you have to go to its back to enter. Contrarily to what has been said in previous comments, it now does have air-conditioning, but now one entrance costs 500 leke instead of 200 leke. No credit card.

Museum which from what I have learned will soon be renovated and modernized as the upper floors in particular undoubtedly need modernization. The air conditioning of the various rooms is entrusted to very large fans positioned here and there. Unfortunately, as in the majority of Albanian museums, it is not possible to make electronic payments, however here at least they take euros (ticket cost €5 per person). After this necessary introduction I must say that the Museum is very interesting, perhaps the corner dedicated to Mother Teresa could be improved.

Holds a hodgepodge of history and culture. Broad if shallow range of artifacts, thin on recent history especially. Plenty of People's Hero imagery without much explanation as to who these folks were (I guess if you have to ask...). Most interesting was the small museum shop -- selling authentic folk clothing, the kind you'd find in the museum. Some of it was from the late 19th/early 20th century. Never seen anything quite like it. If you're interested in a 10 lb vest made of the heaviest wool on earth, you're in business.

This is typical of a historical museum. Nothing wrong with that but when you have seen a few most things are predictable!. We visited late one afternoon around 2.45pm and were advised that the Museum shut at 4pm. However you could back again to finish your visit if you had not completed that day. They have a over 60's rate but we were told we could not have that as we were not Nationals. This was the only place in Albania that said this. The difference in price in reality was nothing!

I cannot review it ... it was closed. It seems it suffered damages in the Nov. 2019 earthquake that hit Albania. See my photo for the note they attached to the museum wall. Let's hope the damages are not too bad and the museum can be opened to visitors again soon!
My rating ... I chose the majority rating of the museum, as I had unfortunately not seen anything to rate.

It's one of the very accessible museums just in the centre of the city. There is a massive collection of antic eras. However, when it comes to recent times (modern era) I have to say that it is very patriotic and I felt that we are under a propaganda storm. I don't know why, but the museum even rejected some periods in their recent history or shows a bad attitude towards that era. This has reduced my grade for the museum.

Museum was ok - it was sweltering hot and there either wasn’t air conditioning or it was very weak. There was a lovely collection of Greek and Roman statues on the bottom floor that was great. There wasn’t too much explanation in English for things. We didn’t stay too long but it was nice to see.

Feel so bad about this museum .
Really. If they change some things like the interpretation, new ideas or something similar it would be a very interesting one.
They have the potential to do it and i hope they will do it soon.
About the pros of this museum is that it has many pavilions for different ages and eras of our country history.
Everything explained in a nice way.
Also the staff very friendly and helpful!

Salve, volevo sapere se c’è la possibilità di fare visite con guida italiana o comunque se vengono fornite audioguida in italiano.

I did a lot of research before our trip and selected the services of Albania Travelnet. I emailed directly with the owner, Enea Kumbi, who also was our tour guide. You can read all the reviews on TA if you enter the name of the company. The advantage of working with an experienced guide is that you learn so much about this fascinating country.
