Once inside the cavernous hallway...buying a ticket and getting directions to the WC may be the most challenging of the overall experience. There is enough English subtitles on the museum pieces to gain an understanding of the regions ancient and recent past and culture of...More

This museum has very traditional exhibitions. However, if you want to understand the background of the somewhat mysterous Albanian culture in a short time you should go here.

This is one of the museum you don't want to miss if you have no idea what Albania is like. It covers Antiquity, Middle Age, dictature, World Wars, Sister Theresa... and more! Have a look at the beautiful wall fresco and statues (the best is...More

The museum is a must visit. Excellent exhibits from early to modern history (did you know there were cave men in Albania?). Three quarters of the museum has signage in English. No air conditioning so it does get hot. Go early or late.

Great collection but dated outlay. Several sections lack an explanation in English. Made me feel like an idiot walking around in Babylon. A complete reorganisation is much needed. Their greatest asset: the fantastic gallery of icons.

This large museum has an eclectic collection of artifacts, the best being on the first floor and covering the Roman period. Other periods are represented by a combination of reproductions, photos, and weapons. If you visit in summer, it is best to go in the...More

I did a lot of research before our trip and selected the services of Albania Travelnet. I emailed directly with the owner, Enea Kumbi, who also was our tour guide. You can read all the reviews on TA if you enter the name of... More
