I find modern history much more interesting than ancient history, but the collection on the ground floor is worth seeing for the cheap price. However, the upper floors lack any real structure and English translations do seem to go missing when you go on the...More

As I stepped in from the rain I felt I was in the right place. I love museums, and this was what I was looking for: three floors, plenty to see. There are informative texts in English and French, of course not as much info...More

Much as you’d expect from a national museum, it’s full of the history of Tirana. A lot of the displays are in English which means you don’t have to guess from the pictures. If you’ve got a few hours to spare it’s a nice place...More

The museum has some really cool pieces, however the staff is very unfriendly and most of the descriptions are not in english.

There is a good cross-section of material on display here from Albania's earliest days, ranging from amphorae to mosaics to pottery, coins, architectural pieces, photography and weapons. What they lack in funding is made up by determination to display as much as possible of their...More

I appreciated my visit to this museum immensely. For an ‘emerging nation’, the exhibits are impressive, and provide objects and insight from its ancient times to now. A great place to see—like nowhere I have ever been (especially relating to the communist era...)

With patience, one can learn a good deal about Albanian history, going back to long before there was ever a country called Albania. This place was truly a crossroads of just about every major civilization, and was involved, though usually peripherally, in a great deal...More
