The city is surrounded by mountains which adds mystic. Once ypu descend there is'nt anything else to do. Inside the pyramid is mainly commercial offices.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 December 2023
- Geoff TDoncaster, United Kingdom168 contributionsIt's Not Egypt !!!!The pyramid has been completely refurbished and bears very little resemblance to the original version. I understand it has been under construction for quite a while but is now completed. Get up it and complete that work out. The view is worthwhile. Also so is a trip up the Sky Tower.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 March 2024
- Steve_Grant1Oldham, United Kingdom1,772 contributionsWorth the effort to get to the top! This building I believe lay derelict for many years with views divided over redevelopment of demolition. Thankfully the former was undertaken. Interesting structures now inside and around the grounds. Superb views from the top which make the climb up the steps worthwhile.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 March 2024
- MrThomas1981Ipswich, United Kingdom956 contributionsThe refurbished pyramid is now open!I don't know whether the be sad not to have seen it in its original form or grateful that it is now a modern, welcoming space... No longer being a reckless teenager, the thought of climbing the sides in their original form and returning home to the UK on crutches was, if i'm honest filling me with more than a little bit of dread! The new stairs make it so much easier but do seem to have taken a few liberties with the original design. Inside is still not fully open to explore but there are now loads of cafe's around it and the park has been completely revamped as well so its actually a nice space to sit and enjoy a coffee too. You can still see some of the remaining original features if you look closely enough as well. Worth noting if you head round the inside edge is that there are public toilets - clean and free, if not the biggest in size.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 May 2024

Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First of all let me apologize to future travelers who might think I'm crazy rating it 5 stars after they visit it. But, I'm a huge fan of Communist mega/crazy edifices like this one and I like to visit them, stare at them and think about the minds who created them. Even my kids thought I went nuts when I brought them here.
The Tirana pyramid is a monster concrete structure set in the center just south across the Rinia park. Built as a museum for Enver Hohxa's "achievements" 3 y after his death, it was never opened for that purpose. Instead, it's a decaying bldg severely time harmed.
It strongly reminds me on the same style edifice of Buzludzha in Bulgaria (set in the middle of nowhere Bulgaria mountains), but this eerie is in capital's downtown.
Besides the decaying pyramid, pay attention to the Peace Bell opposite (read that review).

One of the main attractions in Tirana. About 200-250 steps to climb the stairs to reach to the top. Beautiful views of the City. If one can climb than must go to top to enjoy the Views. Not far away from Skanderbeg Square

Renovation is nearing completion after many years of neglect and indecision. Originally meant as a pharaonic tribute to communist leader Enver Hoxha who died in 1985, the pyramid structure housing a museum soon deteriorated into an empty shell after the 1991 collapse of the regime. Anything of value was stolen.
Repurposed, it is envisaged the pyramid will house tech company offices, classrooms and cafes. It will hopefully be completed by the end of this year. From the outside progress looks promising. On panels in front of the building there is an overview of past and present plans.

In 1988 the structure opened as the Enver Hoxha Museum who died in 1988. Originally it was to serve as a museum about the legacy of the dictator, but after the communism in Albania collapsed in 1991 it was used as exhibition center. Since then it went to rack and ruin and nowadays it is discussed what to do: demolish the structure or renovate and use for new purpose - one of the ideas is IT center for youth. Whatever your impression, it is clearly a landmark of Tirana.

Ok, this place is in bad condition, btu with a strong reason. The municipality try to destroy the buildin, so this is the reason for ne invertments in here, but the locals are fighting with the municipality, and they are against the destruction of the building. Very nice thing, Ok, it reminds you about the communism....but this si not a bad thing. The children have to see this and to know their history.
With minimum of investments this building should became the number one attraction in the city.
You can climb until the top, but be careful whe you get down

Probably the best skateboarding spot in the world and is now a desolate wasteland that stands as a testament to Daddy giving his daughter whatever she wanted.
