Next to Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque is Old Sarajevo Clock Tower, it is a tall tower and shares the Baščaršija skyline with equally impressive structures. The clock in the tower is the only public clock in the world that keeps lunar time and indicates the times for the daily prayers. The clock tower is one of many impressive sights that Sarajevo has to offer.

This clock tower is situated next to the Gazi Husrev-Beg mosque and shows the lunar time for daily prayers .According to this system the day begins at Sunset when the time is shown at 1200 hrs. When i had taken this photo the time was 1034 hrs in the morning while the "Lunar Clock" shows 1430 hrs..This Clock tower which is 30 meters in height is believed to have been built in the 16th century and is the only functional Public Lunar clock in the World. The Clock's present clock mechanism was brought from London in 1875 by Sarajevan merchants

Beautiful clock that tells lunar time- possibly the only one in the world. It is one of the tallest in the world and can be seen from much of the old city/city center.

The fact that the Sahat-kula (Clock tower) was built in 17th century and that it still stands in the heart of Sarajevo, simply makes you want to admire it. Moreover, it is said that this is the only clock in the world that shows the time by the lunar calendar. It can be seen basically from every corner of Baščaršija, so you can't miss it, because it is really high. After all, it is quite impressive and worth paying attention!

As far as I am aware, you can't climb up the tower. On it's base is a plaque providing a few sentences of information, such as the clock mechanism being purchased from London. The best view of the clock tower is from the courtyard of the Gazi Husrev-beg mosque. People make the mistake of thinking that the clock is showing the wrong time but in fact, it keeps lunar time. Apparently, it is the only public clock in the world to do so.

With a height of 30 meters, this is the tallest clock tower in Bosnia. The clock faces show lunar time which means they are set to show 12 o’clock at sunset

The clock tower can be seen from most of the city. It's set to lunar time to help with the call to prayer. The photo I've added is taken from the mosque's courtyard.
