Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I honestly believe this is really unique and special Serbian Christian Orthodox Church!
As someone who is also Serbian Orthodox and have been in a lot of monasteries in countries where Orthodox live (Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece...) and in Jerusalem and honestly think this one in Sarajevo, by "age", location, atmosphere and beauty is really wonderful place!
It is not typical Serbian Orthodox architecture but still it is interesting and somehow I felt as I travel trough the time!
There are also hostel Konak, winery and a small garden for some relax from surrounding noise and traffic :)
As such unique, and one of the oldest religious (if not the oldest) places, so called "Old Orthodox Church" is must see place for any visit to Sarajevo ;)

Sarajevo's old Orthodox church features some of the finest medieval icons in the Balkans and is a rare example of early medieval church architecture in the region. A sign on the door lists the entrance fee as 2KM but I found no one inside to collect it, although there are boxes to leave voluntary contributions. One the day I visited, Gregorian-style chant was piped into the building, greatly enhancing the atmosphere.

Peaceful, beautiful little church, with brilliant museum on the same grounds. Excellent acoustics, place of prayer.

The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel is a Serbian Orthodox church in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was first mentioned in Ottoman sources dating to 1539, the Church was, however, built on older foundations. The oldest Christian church in Sarajevo. Many legends and mystical story is related to this church. Beautiful, simply must see!

Old Orthodox church in Sarajevo is really hidden gem just few meters from Baščaršija. It's oldest religious building in this city with numerous icons and religious relics and items. When you enter this church you have strong feeling something sent you back centuries ago. Next to church is museum of icons and church shop where you can also buy wines produced in monastery Tvrdoš in Hercegovina. The best time for visit is during services, you can really experience spirit of Orthodoxy.

Well worth seeing, a very nice little oasis of tranquility just off a busy street. It's simple compared to many orthodox churches but is actually the first I have seen with a gallery above the main church. The little museum next to it also has some really wonderful old paintings and church objects with another first, some icons without the precious metal attachments , they have removed them to show the painting beneath you would never normally see. Thankfully there is only a small amount of damage from the siege on the tower.
Not the biggest or best church I have seen but a quite endearing example nonetheless and worth checking out.

looks awesome, has plenty to show and does not charge arms and legs for it. Worth every minute spent in there, while you spend a little more buying good wine in the shop inside.

Although there is a strong prevalence of muslim sites to visit, missing out on this gem would be a real shame.
Truly inspiring for any Christian.
Beautifully preserved. Would be great if visitors actually respected the authorities wish for pictures not to be taken, but respect these days...
Do visit the museum, it is worth it, some relics from as early as the 15th century, well preserved.
You can also buy some church wine.
Will be back.

You wouldn't expect to see such a detailed and extraordinary interior from looking at the outside of this church. I had to see this church after reading about a legend related to the child's tomb on the second floor. Again...doing your homework before traveling pays off. The local legend goes something like this: some time ago a child was strangled by his stepmother and thrown into the Miljacka river. Local people who knew of the tragedy told the priest of this church, and he took the child from the river and buried the body behind the church. After some 100 or 200 years, the body was exhumed because the Church wanted to build on the grounds. When they saw that the child was well preserved, it was declared a miracle and the body was taken inside the church. Now the interesting part about the tomb: Pregnant women and mothers who wish to symbolically protect their children pay homage to the body of the young boy by passing beneath the child’s body and be blessed by it. To this day, women “who wish to encourage their fertility or to protect their children” walk around the structure three times and then crawl under it. I had to wait a bit in order to take a photo with no one near it and as I was leaving...I witnessed what I thought was a strange sight! It was a man on his hands and knees crawling underneath it! I suppose it can't hurt!
