Balkan Bites is an attempt at providing travelers to Sofia with the first free daily food tour in Europe and maybe the world. The idea is to take a tour of some of the more interesting and trendy family owned restaurants that Sofia has to offer and enjoy some traditional Bulgarian cuisine, while hearing about some of the history and customs that helped make them became staple foods in Bulgaria, by our trained guides.

If you like food, this tour is an absolute must in Sofia. It is a free tour which takes you around to many different food places (and a few other places of interest along the way) to give a free sample of the kind the food each place offers. The guide gives you interesting bits of history about Sofia, and... More

Stefan was our guide during the food tour, and I was pleasantly surprised. He had a great way of telling interesting cultural facts in relation to the Bulgarian food. The tour itself is a perfect way of getting to know more about Bulgaria, and the different approach makes it even more fun! You'll see about 4 to 5 different restaurants... More

After an initial nightmare finding the meeting point, we were welcomed on the tour. And I am really loving the independent food on the tour and the insights into Bulgaria - history and food and urban culture. We have tried food that I wouldn't pick of my own accord. Olga was a great guide; funny, sweet, personable, knowledgable altogether the... More

I went on a new form of the tour while visiting a friend loving in Sofia. Our guide Mirella was wonderful and showed us all kinds of amazing places. The group was lovely, as well. I can really recommend going on this food tour!

It's a good tour, including samples an background information, and it's free, what's not to love? Our guide, Luga?, was very good and explained about the food and its history. A good way to spend a few hours, make sure you get there early to get a spot. Plenty of vegetarian options, and even a few stops suitable for Vegans!

I joined the tour during a city trip to Sofia, together with a friend. Luckily we had pre-booked the tour. If you don't want to pre-book make sure that you reach the meeting point approx. 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the tour. Otherwise they might have to send you away - two groups with max. 15 guests can... More

My Girlfriend and I went on this tour today and had a great time- well worth doing if you are In Sofia- especially if you are only here for a short amount of time and looking for some places to eat! Our Guide Ahmed was very good- even though it was his first ever solo tour! Food was really tasty... More

I pre booked this tour via there website. We met our guide Olga at the meeting point in the park. The large group was then split into 2 groups. We were taken to 5 different venues, all unique in there own way. We were given lots of interesting facts along the way, it was the highlight of our trip. We... More
