Very beautiful inside and out, much better preserved than the others because you can tell that it is a church that the Bulgarians use for their daily life. Easy access and with a fairly complete store. The frescoes of the birth, life, death and resurrection are clearly visible, although those in the central dome are already quite dark due to lack of restoration. It has an exceptional history since it had to be rebuilt due to an attack. I recommend taking the Sofia free tour so that they can explain everything that happened.

Beautiful Orthodox church, perhaps among the prettiest in Sofia, right in the center in front of the statue of Wisdom (Sofia). The interior fascinates you with the frescoes and the feeling of religiosity, the round-shaped exterior is a point of reference for the long pedestrian avenue of Vitosha from which it starts. Definitely beautiful!

Catedral de Sveta-Nedelya was built in the 10th century. Destroyed in 1925 when they tried to assassinate the ruler at that time. He was late arriving for the funeral service for one of his generals and therefore, saved from the explosion. Beautiful church inside. Catedral built on the Square of Tolerance where you can view Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Christian churches all coexisting within a few blocks.

Impressive. Very old and ancient. Active and you can observe locals going about their prayers. Free to enter but you need to pay to take photographs. Small religious souvenir shop at the back. The detail is quite something as is the structure. Just be mindful as there were a few beggars around in the day. At night, it became a bit more shady and isolated. Although it is very centrally located, better to go during the day. Information is all in Bulgarian so it was difficult to learn or understand what I was looking at. Suggest reading up prior to going or take a guide. Dress respectfully.

Beautiful Orthodox church built in neo-Byzantine style. The history that concerns it is also interesting for its reconstruction following a disastrous attack dating back to the last century. One of the most beautiful churches in the city.

When I saw this church I immediately thought that originally it should be an Ottoman mosque re-adapted to Christian worship after the expulsion of the Turks. Everything suggests it, from the central dome to the small external loggias. But no, the building was born as a Christian church, repeatedly remodeled over the centuries. Beautiful interior with its precious icons.

Old cathedral, standing at the prominent position between the Vitosha boulevard and road to main station, having an impressive atmosphere inside. Typical Byzantine styled Orthodox church with Serbian Stepan Uros II. relics inside. You can't miss it when staying in Sofia.

Probably the best church to visit among the ones in central Sofia. Very nice paintings and icons. Lots of gold and glitter and possible to buy a photo permission for 5 lev. A recommended visit!

Honestly, I didn't think this cathedral or church deserved great adjectives. It is located in a very central location, at the beginning of Vitosha boulevard, so it does not go unnoticed. I liked the exterior architecture more than the interior, which I personally wasn't thrilled with. At night it has very interesting and more appealing lighting.

The church began in the 10th century AD. The current building is a Neo-Byzantine architecture built in the 19th century.

It was the site of the infamous 1925 terrorist attack - The St Nedelya Church assault. The bombing resulted in 150 deaths and subsequent political unrest. The church was renovated in the 1930s due to extensive damage.

It's a heavy and solemn building, even more majestic from a distance.
