Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very disappointed that I was unable to use your store today to make a purchase. The security guard would not let us into the shop without a basket. We only wanted to buy a drink and snack and therefore did not require a basket as we were already carrying other bags. He then told us we could only leave through the entrance door when someone outside comes through and opens it. We stood waiting at the enterance with him standing in our personal space. This is not acceptable behaviour in 2022. The Security guard should not be allowed to intimidate customers in this way. We have shopped in Billa on a number of occasions and have never experienced this before. He needs retraining in how to approach customers otherwise you will loose alot of custom.

One of the most unpleasant intersections in the city. There is a lot of traffic at any time of the day. Otherwise, the statues of the four lions are interesting.

It's a lovely area for strolling around. The bridge and guardians were unveiled in the late 1800s and underwent some refurbishment in 2014.
Lions are always a powerful symbol and the foursome here don't disappoint. Wonderfully sculptured they comprise a formidable corner piece.
It makes for a fine vista along the river, to the other bridges and beyond. At our visit there was only a trickle of water in the river channels.

The central Queen Maria Luiza Boulevard, named after the wife of King Ferdinand I, connects the central station in the north with the center of the city and its southern continuation, the mostly pedestrian Vitosha Boulevard. At the point, where the wide street with tram lines crosses the now mostly dried up and concreted over Vladaya river a bridge was built in the late 19th century, replacing an older one from Ottoman times.
Because of four bronze lions at each corner, once made in Vienna, it is now called 'Lavov Most' (Lion's Bridge). It is also the name of the nearby metro station. Since there are quite a few hotels in the area there is a chance that one will see and cross this bridge, but it is not a sight to especially come and have a look at.

Lion's Bridge is essentially a roundabout that you can walk through to get across the junction. It is also a bridge and you can look down at the graffiti and river below. We had to walk through it every day to get from our hotel to town but found it lovely. The lion statues are in good condition and there are plenty of flowers and benches. It was nice to sit peacefully amongst the chaos to cool down our watch the sunset.

It's an ok bridge. Small. Graffiti on the walls. No real running water underneath. Statues of lions on each end. Nice to see. Few photos.

Very nice bridge, the most beautiful one in Sofia. River underneath is quite small which somewhat brings the whole picture down.
Still, freshly renovated, this bridge is now a real eye-candy.

If you go several blocks northwards from the Serdika attractions and along Maria Luize boulevard, you will reach Lion's bridge. In my opinion, it is a very worthwhile stroll along the part of the city which is not so touristy and holds several interesting buildings of the 19th century Sofia. The bridge itslef is very impressive with its lion figures and beautiful panoramas around. There are also recent Roman excavation sites on both sides of the bridge with good information provided.

While touring on the bus through Sofie we crossed the Lion Bridge and the Vladaya River ( small & short ). It was built in 1889-1891 by Czech architect Vaclav Prosek his brother and cousins.
