I have travel few places around world, visit some other cemeteries, but this one is very special. Hermann Bollé - architect who build it - was born in Köln, but he spent most of his life and career in Zagreb, Croatia, from 1879. to 1926. After big earthquake in Zagreb in 1880. he was one of architects that build Zagreb... More

It's a really big cemetery with great architecture. It's very well structured. Quiet place for a walk with unusual graves and statues

It is a good place for a walk, especially with a croatian friend, who can tell you something about its culture.

Peace. Quite. Tranquility and fresh air. I love to strall down the walls passing next to graves of Croatian important citizens. The nature is as beautiful as the architecture. Easy to reach by public bus. Great alternative to spending the day in the centre during the summer hotness.

I know this is a cemetery but..I might be a bit sentimental and subjective but there is something about this place that puts my mind at peace. It doesn't matter if it's day or night..it just gets to you. The arcades are spectacular sight and you can easily find the final resting places of all the people important for Croatian... More

As the title says, I would say that this is one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world and definitely the most beautiful in the region. Designed by Hermann Bolle, it was completed in the early 1900's and is most famous for its beautiful arcades and the Croatians that are interred there - Franjo Tudman, Ljudevit Gaj, Miroslav Krleza,... Most people would never think about going to a cemetery as a tourist spot, but this cemetery is exceptionally beautiful. The architecture and sculptures are amazing and each gravestone has a story. I could spend all day walking here.

The architecture, landscaping and art pieces at the cemetery are simply amazing! We took a tram and then walked a bit... it was much easier on the way back...

Architectural and horticultural gem. Most impressive and moving on All Saints Day when the whole place glows in the light of candles. A must.
