Starting with the Trg Bana Josipa Jelacica with the statue of the man on the horse, going downtown east to the house of arts. or to Nikole Šubića Zrinskog, the most beautiful square in the lower town. many things to see with lots of history and local culture. Most recommended!

great place to go walking, exploring, eating. Everything happens in the lower town. There is a local market with lots of fish and veg and fruit, all local produce. You also have the tram platz, the cathedral, souvenir shops, breakfast and coffee shops, clothes shopping, hostels, museums. Great place to walk through. The places where the trams are look to me... You can't not visit this part of town. There's loads of people, trams and, of course, coffee shops! You really get the full Zagreb experience.

Beautiful Saturday morning browsing through the local market place and then having breakfast along the many traditional restaurants. After bfast, continued with going up the funicular to see the old town and the view of Zagreb square from the hill. A superb leisurely Saturday morning activity.

You can't visit Zagreb and not spend time in Lower Town. It's literally where all the action is. For about a dozen blocks east to west and half a dozen north to south, Lower Town is a hive of nonstop action day and night. Trams come whizzing by every minute or two. Dozens of cafes with outdoor seating usurp city... More

The main square is vibrant, one day it's full of stalls selling everything from sausages to little bags of lavender to local wine. The next day it's different kiosks selling different stuff and there always seems to be music at one end of the square or the other. If you are facing the square go up one of the side... More

Just sit on the main square and watch the Zagrabians live their lives. Enjoy the ice cream or go shopping in the modern or older parts of the city, all leading from the main square.

Zagreb is still real. Real people live here, real people shop here, real people participate in arts and culture. Unlike the coastal Croatia. We enjoyed taking tram rides, walking, discovering smaller markets, shops, restaurants, museums.

I enjoyed this part of the lower town! The open market--we bought souvenirs, tangerines, plums, had coffee at one of the many coffee bars, bought breads and other sweets at the bakery....love, love!! I wish we had more time to explore the city.
