We visited multiple times on our honeymoon after it was recommended by a few different people. The wine selection is stellar and the whole place is so rich with character and history. Ivan is a wonderful host and his passion is infectious.

Went on two separate recommendations and could not have not more pleased! Huge selection of wines and staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in selection of wines to bring home. Very nice to order a glass of wine in the wine bar and then meander through the wine shop!! Highly recommend! I hope Ivan gets a connect in the states to start exporting Plavic into the states!

We visited this gem during the afternoon and enjoyed every minute of native wine tastings with great cheese and charcuterie. The owner was amazingly engaging in explaining the background of the grape varieties and the wines. We just didn’t want to end the experience - it was so much fun. If you are Zagreb and a wine lover , your trip is incomplete without a visit to this great wine bar ! Don’t miss it !

It isn't often that you are fortunate enough to unite a delicious and informative wine tasting session with a truly professional and dedicated couple. As the proud owners of this exquisite wine cellar they made my daughter and I feel so welcome in their immaculate shop.
The instructive portion of our afternoon focused on a map of Croatia. ..a visual that was most appreciated. ..followed by her recommendations based on our likes and tastes. 2 red and 2 white with cheese, olives, meats....we were thrilled with everything. Birthday wishes ensued for my daughter and the owners made her day.
We wish them well in all endeavors and cannot recommend highly enough your need to visit. It was perfect. Thank you both.

This wine bar is exceptional...the owner, a lovely Australian, gives expert advice as to which wine will soothe your palate. Many wines to choose from and if you get the munchies they have an assortment of finger foods. I have been there many times and each time I want to try every bottle they have in stock. Please go and give it a try...

After years of buying great wines as gifts, wonderfully wrapped , I was delighted to find my favourite wine store now offers wine tasting. Took two Canadian friends, first time in Zagreb, and tasted northern and eastern regional wines. Doris spoke eloquently of each wine, starting with a sparkling wine/methode champenoise and moving through whiites to a red that made Teran seem tannic and dry. The education was a perfect introduction to Croatia for them, with lots of real stories about rare, old varieties, history of Croatia, economy of Croatia, challenges and successes of new generation of wine growers. many of then women, and all in perfect English. Remarkable atmosphere among the oldest bottles you will ever see and many new lines. The cellars have been expanded to cope, and preserve an authentic historic vaulted ceiling, and allow for some new events, such as special dinners with wine pairings by request. Wow!

My wife and I visited Wine Bar Bornstein a few weeks ago on a trip to Zagreb. Since we were going to visit different parts of Croatia, we wanted to learn about the wines of the region. The business is located in the basement of an old building with a wine shop on one side and a bar that serves wine and coffee along with some simple foods on the other. The owners of the shop, Ian and Doris were amazing with hospitality and knowledge of the Croatian wines. The shop is well stocked with Croatian wines ,liqueurs and olive oils of Croatia. We left the shop with an in depth knowledge of the four wine regions in Croatia and what to expect in each region. A must go to "shop" if you're interested in getting to know/taste the wines of Croatia.
