The museum is great, but the Herastrau park even more so

Tennis courts, swimming pools and farmer's market in the area as well. The majestic Triumph Arch is nearby.

It is close to Victoria square. They have a lot of extra activities, cinema, concerts, book launches, traditional food fairs. The very beautiful building donated especially for the museum includes a restaurant, shop, bookshop, library and a small wooden church from Maramures in the back yard. the building was The communist party museum until 1993.

This museum is probably most appreciated by natives because they would better understand it. However is very well organized, has great historic houses, and lots of charm and character.

In mid October 2016 a group of us walked up to the museum after our hotel concierge gave us directions only to find the place covered in scaffolding and workers telling us that it's closed inside as well so check before going.

A great museum in central-north Bucharest, with lots of interesting events and exhibits which are not necessarily related to peasant life - the place has become the most important cultural center in Bucharest.

I would definitely recommend this museum to locals and tourists alike. It's an absolutely wonderful representation of the past; of how people used to live. Definitely go there if you have the time.

An extensive collection of items from all around the country, arranged in a nice fashion but the museum is stuck a little too much in the past. You have got no audio guides in English, for some items explanations are completely absent and for history students, this is of crucial importance as these items are among the few pieces of... More

Interesting visit especially to have a possibility to understand the evolution of the life in the country. The Museum was opened in a beautiful bulding, near a beautiful park in the residential area of Bucharest. Visit to be included in a day dedicated to a long wald in the area.

Sad to say that we were so convinced by the travel guides that we didn't check ahead or look at TripAdvisor. Our mistake! Really disappointed as it sounded fab. We did manage a nose around the shop. They carry a lot of stock in the space so it takes a while to look through if you have the patience. I... More
