The Arch of Triumph was originally made of wood and was put up to allow the troops from World War I to march under it on their way to Bucharest. It was rebuilt in 1922 and again in 1935 with stronger materials (granite). It stands...More
And there it stood, beautiful! Traffic around it makes it a little hard to manage it as a site - visiting closely is difficult unless you want to try and conquer the sometimes crazy Romanian drivers!

Didn't expect to see this in Bucharest! Positioned in the middle of an enormous roundabout it is a very impressive sight. The history of it is interesting though.
Very similar to the Arc de Triumph, with wide boulevards etc. In the centre of wide boulevard, close to Village Museum.
after the original in Paris. Not really near the city center, but worth a look if you are near. Beware of the traffic flowing around the site.
