You need at least two hours, and ideally three, to appreciate this huge collection of Romanian and Eurpean paintings and sculpture. There are elevators, but not marked with signs -- you must inquire. Photography is allowed. No coffee shop! Free drinking water available.

The former Royal Palace, now art museum, is in two halves, one for Romanian art and one for 'foreign' art. We arrived at 4pm on the Sunday and were wisely told that it would be impossible to do both halves in the remaining time, so...More

During a recent visit to Bucharest I had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Art of Romania. It is located in a former royal palace, and is an excellent art museum. The collection consists of both Romanian works and by artists from other...More

I was lucky to be able to visit this museum in June 2018. Situated in the Royal Palace, in the very core of Bucharest, it presents you with internationally know artists (an amazing El Greco!) as well as Romanian ones, from 14th to 2nth century....More

This was a former palace, although you would have no sense of that. I can't say the staff were very helpful. We thought we were going to the modern part of the museum and ended in the older art section. Tickets were cheap.

The modern part of the museum with art from very famous artists such as Monet and Rembrandt is good but I wouldn't say it's world-class museum, nothing compared to other museums of this kind in Europe like he Ufizzi or the Louvre. However, it is...More

Lots of Romanian art of all periods as you would expect. But there is also a nice showing of Grand Masters, notably Lucius Cranach, the Elder, straight through the impressionists, from Matisse to Lautrec. All this in a former Royal Palace.

I’m afraid I’m going to have to disagree with what many of the reviewers have to say about this gallery. I found the whole experienced, and most of the art work displayed, depressing For those interested in religious art work and icons it must be...More
