With a bit of research ahead of your visit, the Kyiv Fortress is actually a really interesting and unpretentious attraction close to the city center. Beyond the grounds themselves and their history, the views of the city from vantage points at the fortress are amazing! The on-site museum/exhibition hall requires a modest fee but I thought it was worth it... More

you can walk the grounds and the ramparts for free. The museum cost 14 UAH (at current rates € 0,5). So for this price you should visit it. Some maquettes, some war stuff and uniforms, and a few rooms. On the rampart you have a view over Kiev city.

visited this place in feb 2015 and it looked great in the snow! as other reviews have said the museum is only some underground rooms and tunnels but it was interesting enough for a couple of hours and cost pennies to enter .The view from the ramparts is pretty good too

Give this place a miss. The fortress is nothing special at all. it cost approx $10 USD for entry and is by no means anything special at all. Do yourself a favor and save your money. On the upper level of the fortress a person can get some ok photos but not great as the field of view is blocked... More

Visited in July 2014. Not very interesting museum, because: 1) fortress (actually the wall only) in Kiev obviously was restored few years ago with new bricks; 2) the museum offers to visit two buildings only (be careful - when you look on the internet to pictures of the fortress - you see pictures of fortress buildings used by some local... I was there last summer and like the exterior a lot. The story behind the castle is very interesting too. located in the very center of the city, it seldom catches the eye of a regular tourist, and therefor (maybe) is still well preserved. Although, I expected to be able to enter the castle but for some reason everything except... More

Highly recommended to visit this fortress. Founded in the 19th c. this object attracts visitors by its interesting architecture. Museum has more than 17k exhibits and many of them are very intersting.

I have been in Kiev many times but did not know of the fort until I read Trip Advisor. I have to say now , I love any thing history or military.......The fort structure is impressive and access to the ramparts is provided with good views around much of the city. In the Museum there are items displayed from 700... More

We visited the fort hoping it might be something special, but unfortunately there is not a lot to see. There is some English and entry is only a few bucks, but the exhibits are not terribly interesting and the fort itself is not much to look at. Exhibits include a small section on the prison (a few cells outfitted, kind... More
