You have to buy an entrance ticket. We also bought to visit the church. It was under renovation. Not so interesting. But outside the Church is beautiful

Kyiv’s oldest standing church, St. Sophia’s was named after the great Hagia Sofia in Istanbul. A masterpiece of the art and architecture of Ukraine and Europe. Every guest should definitely visit

This church while not very impressive compared to other churches in Kiev, is still a must visit to see its impressive bell tower and dome church complex. It is not far from golden gate and St Micheal church and hence should combine them together.

It’s very nice cathedral you can admire it from fare away and the colours white and light blue with the golden roof make it so espectacular. You have to pay to get into it garden and the bells floor

Ask for an English guide. It is worth the expense to get the historical overview. I would give it 5 stars but the price for the tower should be included.

The highlight is the mosaic of the virgin in the cathedral. When I visited there was a modern take on mosaics made from painted Easter eggs also worth the visit. The winding staircase to the upper floor has a series of arches are definitely worth...More

The Cathedral is amazing. My Ukrainian friend told me: If you failed to visit Saint Sophia Cathedral, then actually you are not visiting Kyiv.

In a city with over 200 cathedrals this one definitely stands out not in my view not necessarily the most beautiful one. The grounds are big and will take a few hours to cover it all specially if you decide to go inside as well.

We spent an hour or so here. It was lovely to wander around and look at some of the buildings. I'd recommend climbing the tower to see the view (probably the best bit for me!).
