I visited this monument the last night at Kiev. The weather was rainy during the day so there were clouds and some fog which made the place even more atmospheric. I totally recommend it as a must see sightseeing if yoy are visiting Kiev.

The museum was built in soviet times and has really interesting architecture which reflects soviet aesthetics. There are two halls which take you through the war in chronological order showing contributions of soviet citizens to the war efforts. There are also smaller exhibits about the Afghan War. Definitely worth a visit, particularly in the winter. If you will take photos,... More

A lift takes you up to a platform on 90 meters. Great view, but a little adventourous getting there.

Being surrounded by huge military machines, tank, warplanes and then the giant motherland monument is incredibly surreal. I felt like a little boy surrounded by so many cool toys! Some amazing views and great photo opportunities We went on a Sunday when I think the actual center was closed but it was free to walk around

If you are not planning to go into the World War II Museum, there is not much to see, but it is close to Lavra, so you might want to swing by to have a closer look at Kiev's signature statue. (By the way, I heard it is taller than the NY Statue of Liberty). Also, you can go up... More

the huge monument is definitely worth a look, although from quite a large part of the city is clearly visible. Its best attempted by walking from arsenalna metro( metro tickets 4UAH, about 12p) which will take you passed the amazing Lavra and the Holodomor memorial. The views around the monument are great, there are soviet style monuments in the underpass... More
