As far as I can tell he can make anything happen for you, and do so with a smile and excellent English. 10 of us went from the cruise port to a dinner downtown, and he was able to pick us up right at the ship, no easy thing at the perpetually under-construction port, let the restaurant know that we would be arriving late due to Canal transit delays, collect us at the restaurant when we were finished, and take us back to the ship afterwards. The next day he took 3 of us upriver to visit the Embera village (highly recommended) then showed us some city highlights, again picking us up and returning us right at the ship's gangway. The rates with the cruise company were ridiculous and the times did not work with our flights. Fortunately we found Camilo and his wonderful CAB Transfers and Tour. He sent Alejandro to pick 4 of us up return us to Panama City, do a tour of Casco Viejo, grab a bite to eat and drop 2 at airport and 2 at hotels. A total custom experience with an informative guide who tailored the information and experience to our needs. Excellent English as well, as only one of us spoke Spanish. Learned a lot about Panama present and past. We hired CAB as an airport pick up. Camilo was excellent with communication. He sent his driver Marco. Marco was there waiting for us as we stopped out of baggage. He carried our bags and offered us water. They prearranged and had a SIM card waiting for me. When it wasn’t the exact one I wanted (my communication error) Camilo offered to go above and beyond to help. Highly recommend Camilo for your driving needs.

After doing extensive research for our trip to Panama, I chose Camilo based on the rave reviews here on TA. There were four of us that were scheduled to go, and it made sense for us to have our activities organized by one person. The short story is that, on the positive, we were able to safely see everything we wanted to see on the city tour and the indigenous village, but that was the extent to which it was personalized. On the negative, the remittance of the payment, and the poor communication from Camilo left much to be desired. See below for more specific details.
What went well:
We were able to see all of the sights that we asked to see, both on the city tour, and with the Embera Indigenous Village (especially the waterfall!). We were glad that these requests were met, though we were a bit disappointed that there was not the typical explanation of what we were seeing, or the history behind the sights, such as what we would get from a certified tour guide (i.e., aside from some detailed information that he shared with us about the Canal, Camilo gave us very basic information about everything else, and was not always able to answer questions we asked of him about some of the sights we were seeing). The other thing I can say is that we made it to each location safely. Traffic is a force to be reckoned with in Panama City, and some of the roads outside of the city (at least the ones that took us to Embera and San Blas) were in poor condition. But we arrived and returned safely each time, and for that we were grateful! And speaking of time, almost all of our activities started in a timely fashion, which was helpful, especially for those early (5am!) starts.
What could be improved:
1. Communication: Camilo is clearly very busy (which was evidenced throughout the entirety of our time with him, as his phone was constantly beeping, and he was continually responding to those beeps). Before our trip, it was often several days before I received responses to my emails, from the very first inquiry email, to the final correspondence the day before we were to arrive in Panama. He was a bit more responsive via WhatsApp before the trip, and significantly more responsive when we were in Panama (which would make sense, of course). Also, despite our interactions with Camilo, I’m convinced he does not know our names, as he never once called us by them. That’s a minor thing, I guess, but what good is personalized service if you don’t act personably?
2. Payment: Another aspect of coordinating these services with Camilo is the method of remitting payment. This is probably more of an FYI for those who decide to use his services. Camilo’s operation is a small one in a developing country, so, there were limited options for remitting payment, which I completely understand. But with the US trying to crack down on fraud and identity theft, it made it that much more difficult to do either the MoneyGram or bank transfer (the only two options that Camilo provided to us). We tried each method, and we were eventually able to make one of them work.
3. Main Complaint: Our main complaint combines the aforementioned issues of communication and money. Unfortunately, the other couple that was supposed to meet us in Panama cancelled the night before due to a family emergency. I relayed this information to Camilo (via WhatsApp) as soon as I found out, and he acknowledged receipt of it pretty quickly. It was literally the 11th hour, so, our friends offered to still cover their half of the costs. I figured that the amount that we had remitted (which was half of the balance for 4 people) would cover all of the activities for my husband and myself. Apparently, I was wrong. Camilo asked about our friends a couple of times in the first two days, which I appreciated. However, it was not until almost three days into the trip that he asked for payment to cover the rest of the trip. I did not fully understand his rationale, but what I believe he was saying was that the money that we had sent in the deposit was used to pay for the activities in which it was expected that the other couple would also participate, and that he could not get that money back. Well, up to that point, I didn’t see anything that would have incurred the total sum of the money we had already sent.
Long story short, we ended up paying the money he requested, as our planned trip to San Blas for the next day was dependent on us doing so. In retrospect, we should have just passed, as San Blas was a bust (it was not nearly as impressive as some of the other islands I have seen in other countries, and I’m sure it didn’t help that we went during rainy season). Skipping that part of the trip would have saved us having to deal with multiple unnecessary text messages from Camilo about the payment, and also would have avoided us needing to make an unexpected trip to the ATM…
BTW, if you ask Camilo to book a tour for you to San Blas and you don’t know Spanish, here’s some advice: hope that you have Spanish speakers in your group, and then follow their lead. The woman who drove us the 2.5 hours to the port was not very friendly to us, and did not make any attempts to get to know us like she did the three others on the tour (I’m assuming this was because of the language barrier [she didn’t appear to speak any English], but I speak decent Spanish, which was made known to her, and I can understand at least 80+% of what is said to me in Spanish, which I demonstrated during this trip). She also did not make any effort to make sure that my husband and I knew what was happening during the course of the day. Thankfully, I knew enough Spanish to navigate that trip for myself and my non-Spanish-speaking husband.
In sum, while I’m glad that those who sing Camilo’s praises had a great experience, I would say that for us, these services were not as great as they could have been. I have traveled to almost 60 countries, and have chosen various methods of learning about those countries (i.e., paid tours, “free” tours, big companies, small companies), and I learned my lesson with this trip – to heed the yellow and red flags that appear before I book such options in the future.

Hello
Thank you very much for your comments. I would like to apologize that our service wasn't up to part to your expectations. You are right, i thing main problem was communication. I would like to submit my own comments to clarify a few of the inconvinients you are pointing out in order to prevent other costumers to have the same feelings you had about our service.
First comments about how communicative i was, i have to accept it was a bit of a priblem with you guys, is my fault because i'm suppose to know how to interact with everyone independently of their mood or personality, i found you guys kind of quiet and not very communicative either, so i apologize for non been able to break the ice with you guys, but i can assure you i tried. About questions i was not able to answer, would be interesting if you lists those here, because i can't remember of any relevant question i couldn't answer. Of course i don't know everything, but at least i don't missinform you like others guides do, if i don't know something i would say i don't know, but i will find out, believe me went i say that i'm always looking to learn more about my contry to be the best i can for my customers. About how busy i am, yes i'm very busy, but as yoy already pointed, is a small busy and i don't have much help, so once again, i apology about that. Actually i do know your names, yours syars with an L and your husbands stars with an H, i won't say it because i owe you guys privacy.
About payment methods. Once again you are right, as a small company we are limited in this area, eventually we'll grow and will overcome all of this. As you may now with avery company in the world, we have our policies about this and if you'll like to get our services, is the way to go for now, you are not in the obligation to accept those as you are not in the obligation to accept that of any company in the world.
Main complain. I honestly hope all this comments are not a sort of vendetta because of this issue, i notice a change of mood as soon as i asked you about of the remaining of the payment. For anyone reading this i thing i don't have to say that most companies have a cancellation policy for obvious reason, a spot we save for you is a spot that is no longer available for other customers and in most companies a notice this short ends in a non refundable payment and many companies charge full amount in advance. I asked you for a deposit of 50% tou save 4 spots. Embera village tour and San Blas, both envolve boats, lunch and particularly in San Blas the whole thing is run by Guna Yala indians, and that is the same for any company you try to book to go to San Blas, unless you contact then directly, but it will the same service anyways. I explained that to you trought whatsapp. For anyone reading this, Guna Yala don't allow drivers from Panama to take tourists there, any Panama based company is just arranging that for you. This 2 tour envolve expenses already mentioned and spots savings to you. If i have to pay for the other 2 spots that didn't arrive would be for me like taking you there for free. Thats way i requested your half of the payment, i didn't requested their part, i just requested yours, i think is imporrant to clarify that, it was to short of a notice, all the spots were saved already. I felt Mr H. Pretty much understood, but you didn't and i felt you changed dramatically. Also i requested the half of the payment at the end of that tour as you said 3 days later because i gave you instructions to do so, i toll you to pay an amount on embera tour Nd another amount on san blas tour, thats way i didn't say anything about that before.
Once again, back to San Blas, i hope anyone reading this head to the forums and ask as many questions you have about San Blas, and of course i will try to be more communicative about it. I have many reviews in TA, and i can't find any about San Blas. Once again, this trip is run by Guna Yala people and yes, they don't have many english speaking drivers and almost none of them is a guide. The lady that drove you guys is the only lady driving there and is among the best of this drivers, so far this is the first compIain about her.
Thank you very much for your comments, i'm learning too, obviously should i see it comming.
Btw. I sent your postcards. It was .35 cets each, plus the trip to the post office.
You are welcome.

Our group of 13 had an awesome experience with Camilo. I came across his info on Trip Advisor so was going into this solely based on everyone's previous experiences listed here. We were 3 families with 7 kids and a pretty logistically challenging itinerary that involved multiple airport transfers, tours, dinners, etc. Camilo's communication was clear, concise and he paid special attention to the fact we needed to keep the kids entertained. He was super knowledgeable about everything-Panama...the political landscape, the canal, amazing spots to eat, walking tours, and everything in between. You can't go wrong with Camilo. Highly recommend!

We stopped in Panama City on a Canal Cruise in November. We wanted to tour the old city but not necessarily visit the locks which we had just transited.
Camilo arranged a driver / guide and car for us.
Our guide, Sinar, was waiting outside the front gate of the Cruise terminal on Fuerte Amador.
We finalized what we wanted to do and off we went. We did a walking tour of old colonial Panama City, hearing about the history of the 'new' / old town as we walked. We then drove out to the original settlement of Panama City which was sacked by Morgan. Archaeological site is quite extensive, and if you are going to tour there do bring a hat along with you. We finished up our day with a delicious lunch of Panamanian specialties.
All in all a very enjoyable day with an excellent guide - heartily recommend CAB taxi tours for your transfer or touring needs.

My wife and I stopped over 2 nights in Panama City on our way back home from vacation in Belize. We need airport transportation as well as one day tour of Panama City. We hired Camillo after reading the reviews in the Panama City Forum. We are very satisfied with his service including prompt response before the trip, seamless picking up and dropping at airport and one day tour of the Panama City. He is a skilled driver and knowledgeable tour guide. We visited not only the most popular sites such as the Miraflores locks, Bridge of America, the Amador Causeway and the Old city but also the other places at the request of my wife. I would strongly recommend Camillo to any one who are planning to visit Panama. B Song

My wife and I contacted Camillo after reading the reviews in Panama City Forum for a one-day layover in Panama City. We requested for pick-up from the airport to the hotel, a tour of the city next day and drop-off at the airport. Everything went very well and we would highly recommend Camillo for his professionalism, command of English, knowledge of the City and Panamanian culture. He volunteered explanations, was courteous and kept to the charges as agreed upon. Thank you.
