we found this museum really interesting despite a lack of Spanish language. Used our imagination along with our own knowledge of the history of the canal. In addition to the construction exhibits we both enjoyed the political history especially as it was Martyr Days which...More

I think the museum is great, very big and super informative. They also have amazing temporary exhibitions. The only downside is that many things are only described in Spanish and not in English. Yes, you can pay extra money for an English audio tour, but...More

There were lots of displays and so much written information that it was overwhelming. You couldn't possibly read and absorb everything, even if you can read Spanish. It reminded me of how museums used to be, thinking that if they said and showed everything there...More

The canal has an interesting history, but if you don't have a fairly broad understanding of Spanish, you should pass on this museum and go to Miraflores Locks. I was trying to use Google Translate with my phone and was yelled at by several guards...More

I can read some Spanish so I was not totally lost. But be advised there is no exhibit signage in English. Otherwise this is a very good museum which covers the history of the Isthmas of Panama from pre-Columbian days, the failed French attempt to...More

Well presented story of the Panama Isthmus, the cultures and, of course, the construction of the Canal.

Very informative! Loved the different exhibits. There is a short movie which explains the building of the Canal. Great for people of all ages.

Clean bathrooms, top floor almost all in Spanish; middle floor in Spanish & English. Handicap accessible from the street. Elevator inside. If you know a LOT about the canal already, it might be too simple for you.

sorry just saw your question. I honestly do not know. We stayed in the old city and were within walking distance. I suggest you email your hotel and they should be able to help.

I saw only a picture of Richard Halliburton's swim in 1928. See wikipedia for more.

No, but there are many nearby within the Casco Viejo, including Il Carpaccio and Esmeralda, on the opposite side of the square from the museum.
