Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What happens when you cut a country in half with a canal? Well you end up with two separate sides. Built much after the canal was finish. The bridge made it possible to finally drive to visit your family and friends on the other side of the canal. There was ferry service, but it didn't give you the same freedom as the bridge. Being from NY, I love a good bridge, and this one is stunning. Also visit the newer bridge on the Colon side of the canal.

Drove over the bridge, nice views if the other cars etc weren't in the way. Stopped on the North side at the Chinese monument for some photos and that was about it. Would have preferred to walk it and get better views but that didn't seem safe, not pedestrian friendly.

It is possible to cross the bridge to the other side of the canal on foot. There are narrow foot paths on both sides of the bridge. Make sure you choose the Northwestern side as the foot path here is widest. It is not a pleasant walk as there is a lot of traffic on all four lanes, but the views are spectacular: Atlantic ocean towards the East and green hills with the city in between towards the North. Most of the time big containers ships move to and from the locks further up. Vultures circle high above the water searching for prey. Coming from the old city via Avenida de los Martires you will find a pagoda with monument to commemorate 150 years of Chinese presence (1854 - 2004) at the other side of the bridge. It is a relatively quiet place with a nice view.

If for one reason or another you have to cross the highway on the bridge do so at the highest point as there the traffic is slowest. From Avenida de los Martires at Calle J it is about 3 km to the pagoda at the other side.It took me 40 minutes (the same for coming back to the city).

The sheer size of the bridge is really something. You can see it from quite a distance, even from the Old Town.

It has a beginning & an end. You can drive over it and it doesn't collapse. It's a bridge, no more or less beautiful than other bridges you've cross in your lifetime. No need to visit it unless you have to drive on it.

We staled under it then drove over it. The canal zone has a lot of very interesting engineering and this is just one of the examples

It’s a very nice bridge. Thankfully my car stayed in it and did not fall to the canal or bay below me. I prefer bridges that keep me and my car dry. You should too. I was happy that while staying dry I could see boats, docks, and more. Sometimes you can’t see much of anything from a bridge. Not this one. You can see a lot. If you need to drive in Panama this bridge will do just fine.

My girlfriend and I took a tourist boat tour through the first 4 locks of the Panama Canal to Gamboa. Just as the boat enters the first canal lock the tour boat passes under the Bridge of Americas -- it's interesting to see and photograph.
I enjoyed the tradition of kissing my girlfriend as we passed under the bridge!

beautiful engineering of the bridge.
monument to the chinese people at the one end of the bridge offers great views of the start (or end) of the canal and views of the bay leading into the ocean.
Several vendors sell their wares around the monument and if you haven't purchase a wide brim hat yet, you can get one here
