This 265-hectare national treasure is located within Panama City’s Ancon district, and is the only protected area in Central America located within city boundaries. Standing along the Panama Canal’s eastern shore, it’s home to dozens of species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and trees. With lookout points, four well-marked trails, a scenic road and a Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute canopy crane structure, guests can explore on their own. The Park also offers guided tours to groups for a fee (five-person minimum) if booked well in advance.

great, great spot with a few walks that were mostly pretty easy apart from some steeper slopes to get to the top view but you are rewarded with a fantastic view of Panama City.

The trail I took was a 2.2 kilometer trek. 1/2 is steep uphill, and the return is steep downhill. Lots of cool sites and fauna along the way. Even saw a sloth at the end of my hike. The view from the top is always the reason the climb up anything!!

Because bit's so close to the city and there are roads very close to most of the trails through the park, it is unlikely you will see any animals. We saw a few birds and some small turtles in the pond. Nice to get out of the city though.

The reason for visiting this place is the most fantastic view of the Panama City. With the contrast between tropical rain forest and the modern capital it's really amazing (of course on condition that the weather is nice).

I was happy it was so close to town and we only spent about 15 minutes via taxi $4 to get there from our hotel. When you get there you are so warmly greeted by staff who take time to tell you about the paths you can take and show pictures of the foliage, animals etc that you can see.... More

Good place for visit if you have free time in Panama City and you don't know what else to do. It's nice place for walk or for a picnic at the top of the hill. I would no recommend to take taxi from albrook - driver wanted $5 but is 5 minutes of ride. If you have time and good... More

Easy access to the park, as it is in the City. Admission is $4. You are free to hike any and all of the trails, which are easy to moderate (some go up and down, but they built in steps and railings when necessary). Going to the Mirador all the way on top is worth it too to get almost... More

We are going here quite often to have a quick hike. It only takes about 1.5 hours (ALL the paths). Great view from the top, on the canal side and the city side. There are many animals to see (no always though), and we have been spotting Neques, cuatis, sloths, birds, bats, turtles (in the pond), butterflies (also the Monarch),... More

Easy cab ride from the coast and gives you a feel for the natural environment. It was hot and humid when I went - suggestions of taking water are well advised. Trails are well maintained and mostly gravel so it is easy walking. Saw blue morpho & other butterflies, water turtles, and even monkeys in the distance. Great break from... More
