This is one canal feature you see from the main road. Just be on the look when you are nearby. The railway carries a very important function for the Panamanian economy. It transports goods from one coast to the other without incurring in the high...More

Ride the train the wealthy prospectors rode from Colon to Panama City as they made their way to California. Anyone who loves a train ride will thoroughly enjoy this one as it cuts through the jungle so tightly you can touch the leaves and palms....More

It is an awesome trip, but I suggest only 1 way and get a guide to bring you back (or taxi). This way, you have flexibility while in Colon/Portobelo/San Lorenzo/Gatun locks area. Cabs back are about $30-$40.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip on the Panama Canal Railway. I went from Panama City to Colon. A little nostalgia as you ride in old fashioned comfort in the cars. You get to see the canal, ships, and some of the jungle along the way.

Just stepped off the train from Panama to Colon. What a joy. There is only one train a day in each direction alongside the canal run by the Panama Canal Rail Company leaves Panama at 07:15 and returns from Colon at 17:15. Cost is $25...More

The Panama Canal Railway has two train departures. 7:15 AM in Panama City (Pacific) and 5:15 in Colon (Atlantic). The 'train station' in Panama is open only for those two times; there is no train station in Colon (there is a platform to get off...More

The train is very comfortable with a glass roof and is a good way to see the canal and travel across Panama. It leaves Panama City at 715 and comes back around 4.00pm. Coffee and a snack are included but you don't get given the...More

All that you heard or read or even seen on videos about this unique attraction is nothing compared to, "actually being there" One has to see it in person to experience the feeling.

There were few people on the car. It was very comfortable both good airconditioning and good seats. The AC did drip though and was a bit cold in the top of the car, but the big picture windows and seats closer to the snack bar...More

Hey Fillmyboots, if I was on a balcony of cruise ship through the canal, I would skip the Panama City Railway. You will be right in the heart of the best parts. The railway goes in and out and really does not go by the... More

The train departs early morning (7 something) and returns in the afternoon. I do not recall the guide. We visited the port and the stores. We had lunch in a restaurant there.
