We had an amazing experience visiting one of the communities, just an hour away from Panama City... What a contrast!!! The people wer so friendly. We were entertained with traditional dancing and encouraged to join in😁 we were proved with lunch of fish and plantains, which was delicious. There is an opportunity to purchase local crafts but it was refreshing... More

We visited as part of our Caravan tour. It is an authentic Indian village. The Indians danced for us and explained their history. The children were adorable and everyone was very helpful and friendly. They sell crafts they make that are beautiful. I got two carvings out of seeds and bought directly from the artist. I also got a temporary... More

Garceth was our guide. He is Embera and spoke the language. He knew the people of this village even though it wasn't his own village. He was punctual. Very friendly and knowelgable about the Embera. We were the only 2 on his tour. Left in a dugout canoe paddeled by 1 man and guided by another. We were welcomed with... More

Great experience of traveling by motor boat to the village. See the country up close and personal. The Embera were welcoming and interesting. They need visitors in order to survive in their village, or else they must move to the urban area.

The two tours we took with Garceth – Embera Village and Monkey Islands –were the highlights of our 2 weeks in Panama City. The Embera Village tour is enhanced by Garceth, an Embera native! Canoeing to the Village ,Garceth, a USA trained naturalist, shared his knowledge of the river and jungle. Greeted at the Village as honored guests, we watched... More

This is a very good tour. Not only is it interesting, but you can feel good that you are helping the Embera people live the way they want to live on their terms. They are a very kind and gentle people. It is not often that a person can step into another culture as easily as this one.

We loved this tour. The canoe trip up the river was fun and interesting. The hike to the waterfall was nice and we swam in the waterfall pool and climbed up to the higher level and jumped off the rocks into the top pool. The Embera tribe served a delicious lunch and the dance show was fun. Bought some souvenirs... More

1. An hour and a half bus ride, 2. then a 7 minute power motored canoe ride 3. to a village of uninhabited straw huts ( the villagers actually live in concrete buildings behind the "village" with satellite dishes, computers, tvs) 4. the villagers wear Hawaiian costumes (that they tell you they bought online from China) 5. then feed you... We booked through Rudy's Tours and had a wonderful experience. It was just our family of 3 plus one other couple on the trip. It was a very personal experience. Rudy picked us up on time and was very knowledgeable. He has a good relationship with the Embera tribe. We saw their ceremonial dances and even joined in on the... More

After an overnight in Fuerte Amador, we spent the entire day at a primitive Embera Indian village deep in the jungle. An enjoyable 45 minute canoe ride on a river and lake is required to reach it. We were entertained with local dancing and a fresh fish lunch. Our independent individual guide was Garceth Cunampio. Garceth was born and grew... More
