Maybe the only real history one can see in Panama. The area is not big but was fully restored to its original colonial style now home to many boutique hotels, restaurants, bars and many hand crafts stores,

when you are on your "walk-about" in the old quarters - you will eventually also pass Casco Viejo. Interesting and historical.

It's ok but very narrow streets jammed with traffic. Watch out for stepping into holes in the sidewalk. Almost broke my ankle. Half the buildings are literally falling down.

Beautiful and great, Casco viejo offers a great mix between old (very old) panama and modernity (without touching the soul of the place) Careful not walking to far as you end up in not so safe part of Panama really easily. Adding a bit more spice to this place I guess. However, police presence and commun sense obviously, will keep... More

This is one of the few places where I felt that I could unwind in Panama City and do the tourist thing. Most of the other places in the city are quite manic with horrendous traffic congestion and noise. Although there is still quite a bit of noise from building restoration, it is a pleasant place to walk around and... More

Had such an amazing experience visiting the churches, shopping from local merchants and grabbing coffee. We took an Uber from our hotel ( Hard Rock Hotel) to grab dinner and was really easy to get a return trip as we left at 1am. Safe and secure- must see!

Everywhere you look there is restoration going on. You can see buildings that have been redone, buildings in ruins. It is fascinating to look at the old and the redone. It is a great place to walk. The vendors by the waterfront are fun to shop at as you look for souvenirs.
