Depending on one's desire, it can be a cost effective method of getting around. We used it to travel to the mall which coincidently is the central location for ecursions to other cities.

Panama City has a Metro, which is basically a subway system. Not sure how extensive it is, but I rode it a short distance. It’s smooth, comfortable, and the voice announcing the stops is a soothing, sweet female voice. It’s in Spanish, but you can...More

The new metro is superb, really clean and safe, very cheap and so easy to use. Although there is only one line at present, another one is being built. Great to avoid the traffic!

Hopped the metro to get us to Albrook mall. The ticket machines may be multi lingual but they are still a nightmare to understand. Luckily a security guard helped us and showed us how to put money in. Unlike usual machines you place the note...More

You buy a card for $2 from a machine and then load cash onto it. Only 35c a ride which is a real bargain. The machines are hilariously complicated, but everyone helps. Virtually the entire staff of the station got involved in buying mine. Doesn't...More

Nice work on the Metro, Panama! Top notch transportation. We grabbed the Metro from near Casco Viejo to the business district and the trip was effortless.

Given the traffic in Panama city, the metro is a must when moving to and from places that have access to it. It is not yet covering much of the city but a second line is being finalized by Q2 2019. Definitely a great experience,...More

Metro and bus are cheapest option, but taxis are quite cheap too - be sure to ask for a price before you get into the taxi, and bargain if it seems too much. Taxis in the street are cheaper than from hotels.
