Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Kunta Kinte - Alex Haley Memorial is very nice. The statues are very life-like in size and well done. It is located in a central part of downtown Annapolis near the dock.

This impressive memorial is located at the City Dock in Annapolis on the corner of Main and Compromise. It portrays Alex Haley sitting reading to three children explaining the triumph of the human spirit in very difficult times and showing the importance of maintaining strong family connections to overcome historic difficulties. An unusual and striking set of statues simply laid out for everyone to enjoy. Well worth a visit.

The memorial sits on a beautiful spot near the water. The sculptures are quite lovely. We enjoyed our quiet moment of reflection.

The Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial is located at the City Dock and consists of both statuary and a story wall of plaques containing quotes from Roots and contextual explanations. The statue of Alex Haley reading to children is inspiring. The Memorial is dedicated to African ancestors. According to the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation that helped establish this Memorial, it is the only one in the entire country that commemorates the actual name and place of arrival of an enslaved African. It is impressive that such an important part of US history is so accessible to people of all ages.

These statues are quite popular in Annapolis. I have been in Annapolis many times of the year and there always seems to be someone sitting here; well done...

I got some great shots of this important work of art at sunset but had to crop out trash left lying around. I was going to clean up but no nearby receptacles.

This is a must stop in Annapolis. Sit with Alex Haley as he tells his family tale. It is a neat stop to reflect on our country’s history and treatment of African Americans.
