    Lovely views
You can see it from downtown, but also take a cable car to get there. From the centre, a cab would cost you around 400 denar, to the start of the cable car, which is 200 denar. Lovely views from above.

    Lovely view from the mountain
Visited on a Sunday via the free number 25 bus from Skopje. The drive up the mountain was enjoyable with windy road. As a solo traveller I ended up joining a group of other solo travellers to get the cable car to the top. It had some odd hours as we had to wait half an hour for it to reopen in the afternoon. At the base of the cross there is a nice view of the surroundings. There was a small shop for drinks/ice creams.

The most special thing in Macedonia
I don't know about anyone else but this cross is very special. When it is lighted at nights it brings a sense of peace and calmness to the city of Skopje. It is truly a great idea whoever came up with it. From a distance when approaching the city this lighted cross seems to welcome you or the light just guides you home. It warms my heart every time I see it whether in a video or reminiscing about my time there. It is located on top of Mount Vodna. It is worth taking a a cable car ride up to see it close up .it is one big metal structure.

NICE TO SEE BUT NOTHING SPECTACULAR
The cross can be seen at the top of Mount Vodno and is accessed by cable car or by hiking. I hiked the Sonje pass from Sonje village which took 45 minutes. It's a giant cross made with metal mesh design and looks around 50 feet tall. It makes for some good photos but in my opinion it's nothing spectacular. However all the views will hide your possible disappointment with the cross itself

    A Great Sidetrip
We didn't know the cross existed upon arrival, but we quickly learned from the internet that there is a cable car that takes one to the top of the mountain. It's a great ride! And inexpensive! One takes city bus no. 25 from the central bus station (next to the central train station) to a point part-way up the mountain where the cable car starts.

If I have understood correctly, during weekends, bus no. 25 (and 25a, and 25b) can be used free of charge to get almost to the top of the mountain. Afterward, there are 2 possibilities to get to see the cross: proceed on foot or by cable car. I chose the first option; after a good and not too long hike (approx. 90 minutes including time for rest) the view, cross, and surroundings are valued much differently than by taking the cable car.
I felt disturbed when the top was reached since I could not find any place to refill my empty water bottle or a place that would sell anything to eat (there are, however, some stores yet they mainly provide cold/hot beverages). My friends said that the toilets were in horrible condition.
All in all, if you like hiking or at least panoramic views, this is a trip you could enjoy.

The Millennium Cross is 217 feet tall and is located on top of 3497 foot tall Mt Vodno. You can hike all the way up from the city or from the cable car. It is best to take the #25 double-deckers bus from the main bus station or catch it along the route. The bus runs every 40-minutes to an hour every day but Monday. Once at the Cable Car it is a short ride to the top. The cable car does not operate on
Mondays. Once at the top you can walk around the base of the cross and to the sides for different views. The tower was completed in 2000 to celebrate 2000 years of Christianity in the region. Unfortunately, you cannot go up inside the cross and the property is not being very well maintained with trash everywhere.

Great views. Caught a cab from the center for $311mkd. Was dropped off at the cable cars. $100mkd for round trip to the top. Very cool 360 views. Not much up top. A few places to grab a beer or soda. Disappointed to see so many street dogs😢. Wish I brought some food. Really sad to see them rummage thru garbage for food. I decided to walk back down to the city. There is a clearly marked foot path. A bit challenging at times (it is steep in some places) but worth the adventure. Took me about an hour. I’m 64 year old female.. felt very safe and enjoyed the solitude.

The Millennium Cross is situated on the top of Vodno Mountain to the south of the city. There is a cable car to the top, but I didn't go up as the cable car does not run on Mondays - the only day I was in the city. However the cross can be seen from numerous locations in the centre of Skopje. It is one of the most recent sites, in a city of new constructions, having been completed in 2019.

The Millennium Cross is one of Skopje's expressions and dedication to their Christian heritage. Its size and scale are impressive. Its located outside of the city center, but in a small suburb area that is very residential and nice.
Its a nice attraction to visit while in Skopje and connects you to the Macedonian people through their culture and heritage.
