The building itself looks good, having been built just a few years ago and in a prime position right on the river in the centre of Skopje. The collection of ancient coins is very impressive and in remarkably good condition. It's just a small selection...More

I dont know who the heck gave five starts to that museum. This museum is good just from outside. It shines. When you enter, it’s really small. And the things which this museum have are not worth to lose time and spend money. They are...More

Several comments were written before, I am putting it from the aspect of a father who visited the museum with 5 kids (age 10-12). Expensive at first. 2.5 EUR entrance fee indifferently to the age is too much in this country. Very limited to see,...More

If you want to learn about Ancient Macedonian history go to Pella, Vergina and Thessaloniki in Macedonia in Greece. It is a shame that they change and disconnect historical evidences from Hellinistic times in order to accommodate a political effort to create new non-slavic identities....More

A mammoth building in just the right place with a phenomenal collection of coins, jewelry and pottery. And yet some of the curatorial decision-making seems a touch unfortunate, reminiscent of the stodgy museums of ethnology and archaeology found across the Balkans and former Soviet Union....More

A treasure house of objects from 1000s of years of Macedonian history. The English translations could be a bit better but the objects are fascinating and well displayed

This is one of the new museums of Skopje, and occupies a huge building by the river. Entry costs MKD 300. The first and second floors contain displays from prehistoric, Greek, Roman through Byzantine times, and the richness of the exhibits reflect Macedonia's position as...More
