    Extremely detailed and informative
Although this museum is not huge it is jam packed with displays and provides an abundance of detailed information about the Inuit and life in the Arctic region. Being born and raised in Canada a lot of the information and displays were very familiar from my high school history classes. One thing that surprised me was the similarities and cross over of our Inuit and Greenland’s Inuit population. Makes sense when you think of it, but the museum lays it out in great detail through videos and artifacts. Very well done. They do a good job explaining the settling of Greenland by the Europeans and the meshing of two completely different cultures. The museum is located right on the waterfront with very scenic views of the surrounding landscape. The morning we were there a couple of whales put on a show for us. Quite the sight. There are a couple of cafes/ restaurants near by and the museum has a nice little gift shop. Well worth the two hours we spent there.

Excellent museum - well worth a visit
Great museum covering the history of Greenland. We spent a couple of hours in this relatively small but very informative and detailed museum. It covered the history of the people living in this challenging part of the world from the first inhabitants, to the Vikings, to the current inhabitants. Lots of informative displays. Both exhibit items and signage. The museum occupies multiple buildings. Make sure you visit all of them. We almost missed one building. If I ever get back to Nuuk, then I am going back to this museum for a refresher. If you are lucky enough to get to this special part of the world, then spend some time in this museum.

Wonderful Museum Highlighting the Incredible Culture of Greenland!
Don't miss this amazing museum in Nuuk. For a very small country (population of 59,000), this museum is a treasure trove of this history of customs of the native Inuit people and also covers the time under Danish colonialism. The museum if flush with colorful costumes, recreation of living quarters throughout the centuries, kayaks, sled, hunting equipment, etc. It even has the mummified remains of an ancient tribe from about a century ago. This is a must do when you are in Nuuk!

    Qilakitsoq mummies are the highlight
Oddly laid out museum that occupies adjacent buildings, which necessitates you entering and exiting outdoors multiple times. I was fascinated with the Indigenous skin boats, including the really petite ones intended for children to practice. And the Qilakitsoq mummies were the highlight.

Very thoughtfully curated with artifacts from many different time periods, this museum was one of the highlights of Greenland. One could spend hours here pouring over the vast collection, laid out and presented in a way that invites exploration and further research. And of course, the mummies are a powerful sight that is not to be missed. If you are in Nuuk, make sure you give yourself at least an hour here.

Well curated exhibits, the museum also contains well preserved bodies from the 1460s which were discovered by a few young men in 1973. The kayaks and clothing and general home life exhibits were very interesting. There is a little gift shop.

This museum houses an extensive exhibition of the history of the people of Greenland from the Saqqaq people to the present day, 1000s of years. The display cases are filled with artifacts and there are brochures in English describing each piece. There is also a separate building showcasing different forms of transportation. The exhibit covers farming practices and clothing and hunting and culture. It is definitely worth a long visit.

This is a must visit if you are in Nuuk and want to know anything and everything about past and present culture. Situated in the old part of town in a picturesque setting by the sea.
Superbly presented and easy to follow displays giving a great insight into the way of life of these fascinating people.
One of the best museums of its kind I have ever visited.

We spent maybe 90 minutes going through the museum. It is well worth the time. Won't repeat all the other reviews, but you will get a quick history lesson of the groups of people who have inhabited the island and some are surprising in time lines. The Norwegians actually settled in the south about the same time the Inuit did the north, but didn't stay. There were other earlier groups that did not stay. You get a feel for just now difficult and challenging simple survival was in Greenland. Exhibits are quite variable from taxidermy animals to modes of transportation. Fun fact - Nanook is the Inuit term for Polar Bear. Lots of other fascinating things to learn. Not big, simple but really well done.
