I had the goal to see all three Nantucket lighthouses, and had no idea that this particular one required so much forethought and planning. Unlike the other two, it requires a four wheel drive to navigate the soft sandy beaches several miles to the lighthouse, and when you reach the gatehouse, you have to let the air out of the tires to 15 PSI per tire, as well as pay an entry fee to the wildlife preserve. We visited this late in the day and coupled it with a drink at Brandt Point! Very easy to walk to from town!

Because of the time up here I visited the lighthouse I had it all to myself. It was beautiful and worth the journey. It is a journey however, if you don’t have a 4 Wheel Dr. Still worth the walk.
