We were amazed at the sheer beauty of this hotel built on an old Antigua colonial heritage site. The facility was phenomenal. The gardens were amazing. I could have lingered here taking photos for a while. Staff was very rude to us and treated us like interlopers on their property. We had come to inquire about the free shuttle up... More

Can't recall what they charged but it was a lot more than it was worth. A few artifacts in one area, crypts with skeletons in another, very old ceramics, stone and glass, but just not worth the price or time, we found. If you're staying at the hotel, it's free entrance, so a walk-through might be interesting if you have nothing... More

This hotel/ museum is free even for passing tourists to enter. The area is perfect reconstruction of medevial convent for modern hotel. Real oasis of peace with spirit of colonial times. We were there only from cruise ship day tour, but to stay in Antigua, this place it will be.

The hotel is built upon the area where the 17th century Dominican monastery of Santo Domingo stood until it was destroyed by earthquake. An incredibly wonderful architectural blending of the new inside the old. The grounds offer remains of the church, kitchen and other surviving ruins of the convent. Many items found during the digging for the construction of the... More

I had no idea what I was getting into when I swung by the entrance of this place. I asked if I can enter to take some pictures and the place just kept on opening up to new niches and courtyards. I didn't see any of the museums but just walking around this place was fantastic

This was my third stay, but my first stay in the last 15 years. The front desk service and friendliness has declined dramatically. Not the same as it was years ago.

Be sure to visit this spot on your trip to La Antigua. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, it is a must...and be sure to tour the grounds of this converted convent. Quite spectacular.

I wasn't staying at this hotel but that would have been a lovely experience. Highly recommend a visit even if you are not staying here. Built admidst ruins, this place offers ample photo opportunities and has museums, if you are interested in the history.
