About
We are a group of professional Croatian chefs who are eager to teach you about Dalmatian food, wine, and culture. Our classes include a trip to the vegetable and fish markets where we will buy our fresh ingredients. Then we head back to our cooking studio where we break out the wine and get to work preparing an authentic Croatian meal. At the end of the class, you will enjoy your delicious meal along with traditional wine at our dining tables in the studio. Enjoy!

I have just had a lovely morning/early afternoon with Chef J and Drago - and my husband, daughter and her boyfriend. We had a great introduction to Split as we walked to the fish and “green” markets, Chef sharing his extensive knowledge of the local history of the city. Then we had great fun preparing a super lunch of hake carpaccio, prawn risotto, grilled mackerel, Swiss chard and traditional squid, salad and grilled veg followed by creme caramel. We all highly recommend!

Dear Family, We loved this class with you, and it was great to have so many great fresh fish at fish market to chose from! Waiting for the photos of the recipes you will repeat at home :) Dobar tek! Chef J (Zeljko) and Drago

Amazing day and lucky us we had a private class. Started off you going to green and fish markets followed by making a feast.

Very generous with wine and dietary restrictions followed. Had a grappa tasting before we started cooking.

My husband whom cooks even learnt something-how to scale and clean fish.

We had a chef and a pastry chef for the class. Very personal and a lot of fun.

Afterwards, they sent pictures and the recipes.

If you have time, definitely do this!!!

We were a group on 19 women. The Chefs and staff were incredible. We went shopping in the market with the chef and then were warmly welcomed by the rest of the staff at the kitchen. We had some appetizers and then got to work chopping, mixing and cooking. We all had jobs to do and we all had a blast. We then got to eat all of our creations. The chefs were patient with all of us and we had a lot of laughs. They even took pics of us to share and sent the recipes to our emails. I definitely recommend,

What a great way to spend a day! We met Alma at the fresh market at precisely 09:00 to begin our shopping. We started with the produce and from there we went to the fish market in order to cover all of our bases.

We then returned to the academy to meet meet Chef Z and then the fun begin. He introduced us to the kitchen and it was like a dream come true, 9 individual cooking stations counting his and there was nothing that was missing. The class consisted of Chef Z and the 2 of us. In this case smaller is much better. The Chef realized from the onset that the 2 of us know our way around the kitchen so it made it more fun for him as well. We discussed the menu and he watched as we cooked, the best part was he could teach us some subtle tricks and take pictures for us of us and the kitchen. The 2 stars of the lunch were the seafood risotto and the frozen custard. All the salads and vegetable dishes are a “Given” whenever we travel to Sit we will make sure we dedicate a day spending in with Alma and Chef Z, we’d be crazy not to. If I could award stars. I’d give it 100!

Alma took us on a very informative tour of the green market and the fish market. Then we proceeded to cook a wide range of local dishes under the instruction of Chef Bremec. The hosts were very friendly and patient. We enjoyed some excellent food and drinks.

We met at 9.00am to go for the green market and after the fish market together with the chef Zeljko. To my surprise was there only one other participant to the class making us only three. After we bought the ingredients we ment to the cooking facility to prepare our lunch.
Zeljko did not only teach us about the cooking tradition, special techniques, or recipes. He was also generous enough to talk about his extraordinary experiences of working as a chef, the history of Split and much more.

I would recommend to check the number of people participating in the class. Me myself like smaller number of people to be able to ask questions whenever needed. However, you might be different. Overall, can warmly recommend this experience for anyone who is interested.

We recently spent two days in Split. My wife’s birthday was on the 16th and she wanted to do a cooking class that day. I was a bit skeptical but agreed to join. Chef Zeljko met us at 9:00am. He gave us a tour of the market, where we selected our vegetables, fish, etc, on our way to the culinary kitchen. We spent the next several hours drinking, visiting and learning some great cooking techniques. To top it off, the chef, his wife and the staff brought my wife a candle in one of the dessert dishes we had made and sang happy birthday to her (along with a bottle of bubbly). Wonderful ending to a great experience. I never knew cooking could be that much fun. We would both highly recommend this experience.

I had the most amazing time at the Split Cooking Class! Željko (I hope I spelled it correctly) is a very good instructor and listener. I loved learning about the local food, culture, and people. The time just flew by. We made so many dishes and desserts, salad, and bread. I don't know how he made it all so easy in such a short amount of time! If you love to cook or just learning how... I highly recommend this cooking class!

I loved this experience. We had a lot of fun but also learnt a lot. The market visit was a good way to see local produce and also taste traditional specialties. The chefs were great - patient, fun and also informative. Also loved the wine tasting with Ivan Kovac. The location of the cooking class is in a local area (away from the tourist area) so you also get a taste of local living. If you like cooking or trying local cuisine, then I highly recommend this cooking class. Definitely a memorable and fun experience.

Found this place based on a recommendation by our AirBnB host. If you're looking to do a cooking class while in Split, I would highly recommend this place. It was pleasant going to the market and choosing ingredients before heading to the class. The class was very relaxed and the chef goes over technically aspects of cooking which was nice to see. Also go to try some unique Croatian wines. Alma and Chef Zeljko were exceptionally hospitable.
